    Bit of an anticlimax.

When the race is red flagged for 2 hours it makes me glad I'm watching highlights on channel 4 and not paying £13 or whatever to watch it live

Indeed. Another gift by the FIA/Stewards. Strange he would have won it (championship) anyway.

I expect that 1:40 of that is the first lap!

C4 was definitely the place to watch instead of waking up and paying sky for it!

Still… the three americas races to come, might have to see if it’s possible to squeeze those into a month pass on Now :(

Then the anticlimax… don’t know if the Sky presenters knew what was going on but the C4 presenters were convinced they would only have 75% points.

    Maybe the drama comes tomorrrow!

  6. I got the f1 TV subscription this year and used a VPN service with a US endpoint. Total cost was £80 for the season, much better value than sky. I normally watch it via a fire TV stick. Max streaming resolution is 1080 which is fine for me, you also get the option of having the sky commentary

I thought it funny that the first Max knew of Leclerc’s penalty and winning the title was when Johnny Herbert (who is in the Sky team) told him in the post race interview! Even then he wasn’t sure but after sitting in the armchair of champions for a few seconds backstage he decided he felt lonely and went back to join the others.

I’ve had Sky F1 since it started, if you already have Sky HD it’s no extra, although I expect that to change every season.

  8. I don't have sky so just to watch the F1 would cost me at least £44 per month as you have to buy a base package :( the F1 TV is £44 for the season if you already have a VPN provider

  9. yep, just plan weird

they left out the % points thing when the rules were re-written, really? beyond belief. Although i detest him as a human being, i actually feel for max on this one - dominates the championship but still ends up with a somewhat strange way to win it (full points for partial race, and leclerc stewards decision).

is the fia still anouncing the results of the budget cap today?

  10. Well it’s not the first time he’s won it in a strange way

  14. F1 news: Red Bull guilty of ‘minor’ breach to Formula One cost cap
Red Bull have been found in ‘minor’ breach of Formula One’s cost cap with an FIA statement due around 4pm today confirming the news according to The Daily Mail.

How much Red Bull overspent will not be specified by the governing body but it is believed to be close to £1.8 million more than the £114 million budget allowed.

That is classed as a ‘minor’ breach of the rules and as such Max Verstappen will not be stripped of his 2021 world title in favour of Lewis Hamilton which was an extreme possibility had they overspent by close to £10m, something Mercedes suggested last week could be the case last week.

The Mail reports that no other team has over-spent although Aston Martin will be found to have made a ‘procedural’ mistake when filling out cost forms.

That daily mail quote is different to the BBC… some how the tabloids know the value of the overspend and the penalties despite the latter not being decided yet!

Besides my dislike for tabloid newspapers…

At least the truth is out and we now know that Red Bull cheated. I hope the punishment is appropriate and discourages future cheating.

Whilst I am admittedly Hamilton biased, I think the punishment should be meaningful and it should be a significant retrospective points deduction to correct the infringement at the time of the offence. This will throw F1 into greater turmoil, but so be it.

  17. But that won’t be what happens. he gained some advantage or the money wouldn’t have been spent!

  18. It was probably a bribe paid to the race director of the last race.

  19. Controversial!

  20. Quote from Binotto on bbc f1: ""$5m is about half a second, $1-2m is 0.1-0.2secs, which can be the difference between second on the grid to pole."

If that's right, and Red Bull have overspent by about 2 million then what effect on '21 championship did that extra 0.1 - 0.2 s per lap have? How many times was max ahead of lewis on the grid by that small margin and how would the championship have been different without that unfair advantage?
