I never made that one but I did have a Girls Girls Girls tour ticket but Nikki Sixx died & they cancelled luckily he came back to life!
so many factors in a 'best gig' prodigy at a tent in stanmer park with underworld as well. and PWEI the day before. rad friends and great times pitchshifter at pheonix festial at 11am and getting on the stage aphex twin in a festival somewhere with luminous tellitubbies kung fu fighting on stage while being out if it and never having really listed to him before. incredible biohazard in their urban discipline heydey- just NUTS people going apeMarmite the whole time, climbing the tent rigging and diving off, on the stage, speakers everywhere, the whle place was just nuts. bodycount at a festival somewhere. the only gig where i`ve seen 2 lines of pit where the first was so mental there was a second tamer pit a bit further back - haha. you had to crowdsurf to get in/out of the front pit! 7 hours on my own in a trance tent at global gathering with people going nuts the whole time - hallucinogen, juno reactor and green nuns i think!. no idea on time and my mates spent ages lookign for me! beck at glasto - epic set muse at glasto - didnt really expect it to be good, and went cos my mate liked em, but was blown away how good they were - 3 people blue lights no fancy Marmite. orbital at glasto - on a hill above the park stage with the sun setting generally loving life. rolf harris at glasto - just epic fun. helped being totally smashed but so were the other 120000 watching so it was epic. its a shame what transpired about him later as its an epic memory worst has to be Oasis my a country mile!
@Van Halen , also saw Rolf at Glasto 20 years ago, don’t know if it was the same year as you but that was brill. As you say, knowing what we now know …..
I do hope they bring The Stadium Tour over to the UK, a few of us have asked Nikki that question along with many others I'd guess..maybe??
I saw Peter Gabriel in oct 82 at the MK Bowl when he rejoined Genesis for a one off to raise funds for Womad. They carried him onstage in a coffin. Rained all day, cars couldn’t get through the mud, just as well as our battery was flat.
Wasn’t the best gig though as they hadn’t really rehearsed and you could tell. Best was Radiohead about 10 years ago at the O2. Awesome band live.
They did bring the whole Rollercoaster Drumkit, ladder platforms and Boxing Ring over on the Farewell Tour a few years ago (2015?)
Remmy Ongala And Orchestre Super Matimila in a small pub in Cambridge. Not a big gig fan, rather watch a cover band in a pub! The Fall were good at Womad once though "We're the Fall and we're from the 1st world". lol
I bet @crossy2112 and @Suss come on and tell you about when they went to the S club 7 supported by steps apparently Nigel was so excited a little bit of wee came out
Cool ... as ... fcuk. There's a documentary popping up occasionally on Sky Arts - Searching for sugarman . Goes into the political reasons of his mythical cult status and how he never knew his music was huge in South Africa and nowhere else due to the record bosses creaming his royalties and saying nowt .... A great story and a good man , the documentary was recommend by a mate in SA and even if you've never heard of Rodriguez it's a wonderful story and a riveting tale .... 10/10 !! Levellers at the Empress ballroom in Blackpool back in 1996 (or possibly 97). Chumbawumba as support too.
