An early one I saw was AC DC at Ryde Youth Centre in 1973. I was 12. Would have been one of there first concerts. Also saw INXS at the Bayview Tavern in Gladesville (a local pub). They had just changed their name from The Farris Brothers. Would have been late 70’s or early 80’s? I saw them again for the Kick Inside Tour final concert in Sydney. A mate was their stage manager for that tour. We got passes to the Green Room after party. Interesting days. No idea how my mate is still alive listening to his tales
Communards Hammersmith Odeon 1986, there wasn’t a person seated by the end. The Specials at the Bataclan 2014. They were fab but we had also made a long weekend of it in Paris and had an ace time. Patti Smith at Glastonbury 2015. There are lots of bands that I’ve liked but never seen until later in their careers. I’m glad I’m working my way through them before it’s too late
My least fave was Chris Rea who was supporting Eric Clapton. I found it boring tho on the upside I could go to the bar and it was empty

Hmmmmm there's been sooo many and it's hard to choose. From the point of view of putting on a show, the whole package of entertainment, and great interaction with the crowd, it'd have to be Dolly Parton. Relatively small venue, and she chatted and sang just like she was in yer front room. Maybe it'll be tomorrow night... first gig I've been to in almost three years (although in fairness it was supposed to be two years ago). Quite excited. Bucket list gig

i was indeed it was fab to see him and a great performance but a bit far away to add to my best ever. It was scorchio which meant you had to drink lots then queue up for ages at the loos and hope you could find your way back to your friends! We went in a mk 1 Cortina so at least I may have found it in the car park if I got lost. I seem to recall it took ages to get out afterwards.
A bunch of us were also at MK for Bowie, think it cost us £25 each. I remember Icehouse were support, can’t remember who else. Only other time at MK bowl was for REM in 1995, got tickets for my girlfriend as she was massive REM fan, but in truth, I only went to see Blur…..no Phil Daniels on Parklife though .
It did take ages to get out , me and caroline went down in a Chrysler Alpine ...loads of cars were steaming away overheating stuck in traffic trying to get out . It was 5 o clock in the morning when we got back to Ashbourne in Derbyshire ..a trip that usually takes one and three quarter of an hour . And Caroline moaning all the way back home because i didn't leap out to grab one of those moon shaped balloons that were chucked in the air at the end .
I hope she still brings it up in arguments!! I lived in Banbury so not too far away. I can’t remember what time we got back but defo before 5!

Attila the Stockbroker - Little Big Top Beautiful Days August 2010 - poetry including a recital of "Muriel" a poem about the long goodbye with his mother slipping away with Alzheimer's, she'd passed 3 months earlier - it was tough for him to read, the audience empathised, we sat and listened, we waited when he needed a moment to collect himself, cried when he cried, at the end there was a good minute or so of quiet while everyone wiped away tears and composed themselves, then erupted in noise and appreciation. It's such a strong memory if I take a few moments to remember it (and I do still from time to time) it stirs every emotion again. Nothing anyone can do on a stage ever again will ever get close to that, everything else is just entertainment.
Slade. Ever laughed so much your stomach hurt after a gig? Noddy Holder should have been/was a proper comedian. I also remember a singer in a pub band who did conjuring tricks all through the gig. I do like this type of multi-tasking entertainment, so many bands just mumble the name of the next toon.
Glad I got to see a few 80,s icons that are no longer with us… Michael Jackson, George Michael, Whitney Houston … As I’ve got older tend not to go to things as I always seem to be sitting near a complete dick !!!!
