I saw lots of now iconic bands back in the day and one that stuck out was souixsie and the banshees at Malvern when the cure not only supported them but played as her band when she came on, it was a fab night small venue etc, but then in 93 ish I went to see Springsteen ( under duress I might add) at Wembley arena, man that bloke could rock. We had front row ish seats and the whole band was lead down by the boss to Conga amongst us and half the bottom tier seats. Thunder road was amazing too. So for me it has to be the boss at Wembley arena 93. For a gig I didn’t want to go to it has to be the best by a mile, I’ve seem him a few times since but..

What was the best gig ever for you?

I’d have loved to see Bowie properly then but the only time I did actually go to a Bowie gig I was too far back and too small to enjoy it!

Got to add both of my lads have had bands and their gigs always fill me with pride and both of them have had at least one gig that really rocked and got the crowd going, one at a local festival that was dire until my youngest lad’s band came on and lit the night up and one at a big local pub that half the town seemed to know about and they rocked the place that was my eldest lad's band. Sadly both went to uni and the promising music careers have gone onto the back burner!

  14. It was the summer of 1986 - we were on holiday on a campsite in Frejus in the South of France after having driven down in our Marina Estate. I was out for my morning jog and as I ran along the sea front I saw a poster advertising Queen in the Arena - surely not the Arena in Frejus - I had been unable to get tickets for the Magic tour in UK and the France gig was supposed to be in Nice. The poster said tickets on sale at 9 am that day and it was 7.30 - Quick about turn and back to get changed and back to the Arena box office where there was queue at 8.30 - managed to get 4 tickets . Our kids were 9 and 7 and knew all the words as we had played Queen tapes all the way down -we were surrounded by Dutch and Germans smoking weed as we ate our digestives with tea from a flask - My 7 year old said after the show - that it was the best day of his life - mine too.

  17. Saw the strokes and the Libertines both at Sheffield leadmill, first time I saw the flaming lips was extraordinary and LCD Soundsystem are easy the loudest band I’ve ever seen - not the question I know but noteworthy
