Don't agree with you at all. Hamilton has avoided incidents by driving defensively (as he did today - pay attention!). Unfortunately this only results in him effectively penalising himself possibly by not having a collision. Agree with your second point a bit but being committed regardless of the outcome to yourself or others is criminal. This is formula one not banger racing in some field in Lincolnshire! If the last decision of the race director had been to the laws of the sport then Hamilton - despite what you say there, would be world champion. So you are wrong. It is possible to play fair, not be completely gung-ho with everyone else's safety and still win. Or don't they want Hamilton to surpass Schumacher's record for some reason (??????) as there have been some very odd decisions haven't there!
Can’t believe I spent the whole afternoon watching the race and the evening reading the live-update pages to see who won. And there’s still the appeal to come. It’s really ruined the whole championship, whatever the result. Going to watch Strictly Result Show now - hopefully it will be a deal less controversial.
I despair of those who just want to see the crashes which frankly that requires zero skill! Perhaps those wanting to top up their blood lust should watch Senna's fatal collision on a loop or Lauda's fire or the multitude of other incidents resulting in death or serious injury to get their kicks!
Odd that Mercedes brought a barrister to the race, almost as though they were going to protest the result on any grounds they could if they lost the race.
People like the crashes. The high speed danger IS the attraction like it or not. That isn't the same as blood lust, it's.. something else.
I know. Doesn't make it untrue though. I like a good F1 crash, but I'm sickened if it ends badly. Luckily these days it rarely does.
Not so od Not really when you consider what actually happened. Or indeed what they thought might happen. There's much more to this than meets the eye or that we will get to know. I think "manipulated" was the word that Hamilton used.
Someone should casually walk up behind Nicolas Latifi and whisper “we need a miracle” and see if he suddenly veers off to the right #conspiracytheory
So... After an entire season of racing and with the result pretty cut and dried with Hamilton out front by a considerable margin and pulling away from Verstappen on his new tires and after all the real racing was done and both Red Bulls were beaten and with some proper racing and wheel to wheel action a chance incident takes away the time advantage of the leader who's tyres clearly weren't up to sparring with someone one on new tyres and out of all the options available an option which wasn't even in the rule book was applied which significantly disadvantaged the leading driver. And some of you lot think that's ok and fair? why would that be. there were plenty of options that weren't in the rule book. Add some more laps, restart the race, make everyone fit knobblies, drag a kite and smoke 10 woodbine before getting to the finish. introduce the Joker (the Dutch were good at that or was it the Belgians). Rules is rules and that's what everyone expects - all this bullMarmite about let them race... Masi sounded remarkably like Horner in his response to Toto didn't he.... Same rhetoric and it makes me think it wasn't his decision and he was told what to do. Would explain the quick turnaround. I suspect the sport is far more crooked than we all think and where they can the suits behind it manipulate to what they think is their best advantage. I hope there's an appeal. I would like to hear why.. just why it was exactly that made Masi ignore the rues and make the decision he did. Going back to the barrister thing, if indeed it is a thing then if you were aware of the "potential" for manipulation then that makes sense! It smells a bit chaps. Its all a bit like "Man united time " (or Fergie Time!!!) ie that 9 minutes of injury time that used to appear from nowhere when they needed a result and were behind... if it looks like a duck and quacks then chances are....
Hamilton should have given the place back after turn 6, Just saying. I don't care either way, about time it was interesting, been boring for ages.
Don't agree. I dont think its been boring at all. As for giving the place back then again I disagree. Hamilton leaving the trak was Verstappen's doing, not Hamilton's. Also there was a considerable time available for that to be reviewed and enforced if needed. Plus...its the teams choice to give it back or take a time penalty. I think, rather than give Verstappen the opportunity to try to wipe him out when passing.. which he inevitably would have done.. Hamilton was quicker and on the right tyre, Verstappen was on softs and struggling.... a clear track... pull some time and take the penalty would have been the right thing to do. In the end it wasn't a factor as Hamilton was significantly quicker and the best performer on the day when it mattered.
Every commentator I heard said he should have given it back......ex drivers ! About time they started racing, not watched for ages due to always being a procession. I guess you are a major Hamilton fan ? I am not a fan any more. Stopped watching football as well, too much rolling around on the floor is pathetic. Might start watching netball
