I don't think anyone can or is seriously defending this. The stupidest but most enlightening rule in F1 is the safety car when everyone is allowed to catch up purely for the TV spectacle. It has nothing to do with racing and everything to do with cash for the sport. Yes it makes it back into a "race", but it does show that F1 have no interest or respect for fair results, just close racing to make it look more exciting and bring in the money. Many of the rules are aimed at achieving this. It's not a sport, it's entertainment.
Im not sure... dont know the rules but it usually involves young ladies in short skirts so I couldnt possibly watch as thats just sexist and demeaning isnt it. Mixed netball ??? is that a thing?
Controversy is also entertainment and the FIA have done all they can do create it at the expense of having a proper race. Footy does the same hence dragging their feet for so long over goal line technology.
If it happened 3 laps earlier then clearly there would have been a clear opportunity to restart with all the rules followed. and possibly Hamilton would have pitted. he would then have been in exactly the same position Max found himself in. But it didnt so none of that happened.

If that was where Max braked too late & pushed Lewis off the track surely not. If it had been a gravel trap it would have beached him & probably put him out of the race.
Ive never driven a formula 1 car but .... Martin Brundle has and said if you leave the door open like that someone will come through it. Max did and stayed on the track.
For someone that’s not bothered your still pushing the points. Facts is facts as and that’s what’s worth discussing. What might have happened ain’t really relevant as we don’t know what reactions there might have been. At no point during the race did I see Hamilton even remotely attempt to push anyone off the track or drive in such a way that he impeded or blocked anyone else or drive with such fury and disregard that he endangered anyones safety or seemingly attempt to end their race. That’s what I saw Perez and verstappen do. If that’s the only way red bull can win and if it’s the only way max can win then he’s second best isn’t he!
