Never believe in adhesive tape .. if it gets hot, it will come off. If it gets wet under the edge, it will get mould under the edge and gradually fall off. On the other hand Tiger Seal or other PU flexible glues like Sikaflex 291 will not give way until the paint comes off too.

Fitted a new top alternator pulley and crank pulley as the old ones had worn down with belt slipping to the point where you started with a new belt and one shim ... Also the aluminium pulley started off about 4mm smaller outside diameter, and the belt had dropped inside the groove ...

Now need 6 or 7 shims to start with a new belt.

Although the new pulleys dont look straight, the whole thing is a lot less flappy than before.

I read your earlier post about that.
IIRC there are different thicknesses for different years/gearbox types.

  16. Most odd. Think my originals were 12mm, but all VWH had were 17s. Now you’ve got 15s.

Ah, well. They don’t rub the drive flange, so all is well.

  17. I’ve spent months in my engine and fuel tank bay. Might as well have put a bed in it!

What’s the big pipe coming out of your fuel tank, central, in line with the 2 smaller breather pipes? Mine doesn’t have that.

Decided to hard wire my sat nav in , always had it in ashtray as it wedges in really well. Took 1 hr to wire it in and over an hour to put the bloody ashtray back in position ! Works well though and no dangly wires

    Mine s
Seems to have/ have not stuff like others, too.
I think it may be the filler overflow back into the tank or a breather. It follows the large rubber elbow to the filler.
