A few coughs and up she spun , 60 miles along the motorway and back to the parking area for another few weeks...

Bit the bullet and dived into the dashboard to find the reason why the interior lights were not working.
Discovered that the feed wire from the leisure battery's auxiliary fuse box to the switch on the dash must have a break.
So piggybacked the cigar wire feed from the leisure battery to supply the interior lights. Sorted.
Unfortunately somehow shorted out the zig battery status display so will address that tomoz.

Been out to Gusbus, who is all shiny aside to the tailgate, took the trim panel off, lock button and lock mechanism off too, a few hidden rust bubbles to address.

Will sort the rust bubbles out over the weekend!

  5. Replaced antenna, the end of which froze off last week. Third one I've had. I wouldn't recommend the double-mounts. They just break too easily.

Had to wrestle Swedish washer tank out to fit antenna, starting the usual Bay-fixing chain-reaction: the pipe unions loosened and sprayed green fluid everywhere. Pump works well, despite being made by Lucas

Spent a good 15 mins siphoning all the fluid out of tank, as it weighs a ton when it's full. It's a big 'un...

    Swedish washer tank interesting.
Were they originally for the headlight washers?
I want one but presumably practically preposterous to find.
    @davidoft ?

I do have one as it happens

  8. Headlight and windscreen washers. Believe they had two pumps, one for each?

Some minor mods necessary to fit.

  10. I hope it comes with pump and pump bracket. Knock fifteen quid off Nick, if it doesn’t.

  13. I tell a lie. Seems the Swedes had two tanks, big one plus pump on the right for the headlights, torpedo tank plus another pump in the other side for the windscreen.

Big advantage is that even with a dash shelf fitted, you can fill it up easily without spilling fluid everywhere.

  15. It's 8 degrees C here, that may not sound tropical, but it's at least 10 degrees better than this time last week. I may venture into the garage for a bit of tinkering :)

    Yes! Success!

After trying to prise it out with circlip pliers, and trying the grease + drift method without success, I've discovered another way to remove the crank roller bearing - an M8 wall anchor

The key thing was to clamp everything so that the anchor would expand within the bearing. Then it's a matter of winding the bolt down until the anchor is gripped securely, then removing the clamps that hold the anchor down, then continue winding the bolt to press the bearing out. It's probably a little kinder to the crank thrust bearings too

I've started painting under the wheel arches with Rustoleum today. I bought some 'racing green ' from the local Homebase, not too far off the Sumatra green the bodywork is done in. I'm thinking about getting some light grey to do the suspension next.

had to earn its keep with trips to various diy outlets nice long run - little splutter from old fuel but soon cleared that out with a thrash.
