  1. Rivnutted my front belly pan fasteners, just because I can.

Then went for a sunny romp to Winchester and back

  5. Also failed to find my spare master cylinder reservoir, but did find the German ATE m/c I bought years ago. That can go on.

With your negative gauge stance sir...how do you know it was "getting a bit hot"?

  9. I suspected it was running hot from day 1- fitting an oil temp gauge confirmed it ....

  12. Aha! Proper Honeywell microswitch?

  13. Nah.. only using it to trip a relay, if it works as a model and it fails I'll buy better next time.

Can't fit one on the dip switch though.. and not risking breaking that by taking it apart so it'll have to be a dash button

A foot switch for dip/main would be

  15. I have one ... might go on too.. but it's a changeover switch and not sure how to wire it with a dip relay on there already..

My ma's mini had one and also a rubber half ball like a miniature traditional lilo pump to squirt the windscreen. The pump was surrounded by a hoop switch that operated the wipers while you squirted, or if you just caught the switch one wipe and park. Genius!

  18. Managed to free my passenger door lock at last - trigger on door handle had stuck - so had to remove door card with door locked shut - bit fiddly but able then to get to door lock pull rod - spring inside handle had broken so replaced door handle with 2nd hand genuine VW one supplied by @outlaw and swapped the lock barrels over to keep the same key - hooray.

Sow how hot did it run then?
My 1.8 runs around 110-120 when up to ramming speed after half hour or so, certainly did yesterday when it was warm.

Went out to move it so I could empty the crap out, got the click of embarrassment, put the battery on charge.
