Isn't it just. I have split ball joint boot to do too and that's not great fun either.

Getting it all fixed at once is good though, just plodding along - can't go camping but silly not be ready. I usually MOT in the new year but I didn't bother because I didn't want to fix things in the cold. lol

Good luck with the febi ones.

I liked the clips the febi boots came with that had a little tang poking through a slot on the outer section. Made fitting them a darn sight easier. Mole grips on the tang, pliers on the end and pull.

Having said that , the dip bellows is is designed for movement so it must do .

  4. I just crimped mine in the usual way. After a, I did spend a lunchtime sharpening my tool o_O

Yeap still crimped mine. This was just to get the darn thing around the boot in the first place.

  6. Yes, I see what you mean, the clips open up so you can get them around the axel even if the boot is already fitted.

Are these the stainless steel ones? My MOT man failed mine because the ends were flapping about. He cut them off but told me off. :D

hmm, not sure if they're stainless? Ends don't seem to be flapping around so should be ok.

  9. Cable ties. I’ll say no more...

    I'm inclined to agree.
Another thing - cheapy boots are usually dumpy, like a compressed spring? I wonder if stretching them to the obvious place on the shaft does them any favours.

  11. Cable ties on the tintop boots 5 years ago.. GKN ones from GSF in one of their 'sales'...they even reached that recess on the shaft without too much of a strech

If you ring the shop you pick up from they'll let you know what make the 'premium' item is, as it doesn't say on site.. still looking ok last I looked 6 momths ago!

  12. My GKN ones (think they were GKN) are still fine after about 10 years. Think they actually came with cable ties!

  13. Nearly there , all plugged back in and mostly working.. horn, dip and a washer switch to fit as 'fixes' and radio feed to sort, not quite as tidy as some but a heap better.. just hope they all stay in there when lifted into place[IMG]

    ... then the worry gauges...

  14. Is that red/white the main feed into the fuse box? Is the fusebox the right way up?

That loom in front of the totem pole vent needs to be behind it, it'll get in the way of the kick panel.

  17. Yep red and white main battery feed.. it does look upside down but works better this way if it'll screw in!.. incommers on the bottom row .. outgoing on the top, relays dangling underneath

  19. Had a decent run out - first time since lockdown . Been scooting around locally but headed up the M3 to my secret camping field avec pub .
Had a chat with the landlady who confirmed they'd be opening asap and limiting the camping .
Made her a cuppa in the car park , washed up and headed home again .
Van did everything it was supposed to , getting a bit hot on the long hills but as expected never missed a beat .

    A grand day out [IMG]
