Rob will 100% have refaced your followers. It doesn't take long for him because he's refaced thousands of them. He used to spend whole days doing buckets of them. Mixing them up is a non issue if refaced and I suspect a non-issue in general unless something is worn past tolerance but don't quote me on that last bit. No, you won't need to run the cam in, it's already as hard as nails. And finally it's fine to run new followers on an old cam. Anyone slapping in new hydro lifters in the hope they'll stay pumped up is doing exactly that.
I took the first case to a car jet wash.. Not bad and got rid of wors of oil but a karcher did a better job.... make sure you get all the water out of the oilways (spell check just suggested pikeys for that! ) Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Dangerous talk for a man on a limited budget as he'll have to remove the gallery plugs and this was meant to be a simple fix what's broke rebuild? So easy to run over budget by doing everything properly.
I hope you didn't miss this post - it's rather important. Mine took quite a bit of persuasion with a rubber mallet to split
Time to enter smug mode. Thank you so much zed there was a hidden bolt behind the flywheel, I use an old bit of wood and a wooden Mallet and peeled apart. New lifters arrived today I ordered them 1st. Bout to pop to town to get cleaning supplies.
Oops, so he was...this time. I should be fitting that exhaust but it's too windy out there and forecast to remain that way until Monday...when I'll need the van for a super Marché run...one day the ducks will be in a row.
One cam successfully swapped out. I marked the teeth on the old one before taking out then match up the new one.
@jameswick89 I’ve been reading through this thread this afternoon and I’m sorry but I have no advice mechanically to offer , you have some very knowledgeable people already watching over you.. I see the way you are working, the facilities and finances you are working to are very much in line with me , we can make do , i do see a tremendous amount of willingness to get this sorted though, a lot would have thrown the towel in now .. So hats of to you, keep calm, don’t rush , don’t cut corners keep asking questions - these guys love it , don’t feel that you’re inconveniencing people at all. You’ll have the biggest smile and sense of achievement when you fire it up and it purrs like a kitten
Yep keep one between two dots.. has to go in place with the cam out of it's seats and roll it round on the cogs until the cam is back in the bearings, then spin the pair back to check.. if you havn't already done it... The 180 out should have just been distributer...not the gears on these cogs. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
