1 then anti clockwise 234 im going to do the tappits while I have the covers off then new plugs, leads and exhaust on and think about trying to start it which leads me to my last question today lol I have a bell housing for mounting the starter but it won’t fit with the engine stand yoke on will I be ok to cut the bell housing in half so it’ll fit ?? See photo
I think most take it off the stand to test fire them.. bell housing will fit then.. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Cheers Deefer I was going to do that but am not fit to lift it off myself and I’m isolating because I work offshore and need to isolate each time I get home that’s why I thought if I cut the bell housing but maybe I can build up pallets to get the height and slip the stand out somehow???
I did a jenga tower with a jack to take the type 4 off the stand and get it to ground level... Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
No I meant north to south cut it in half so I can fit it on the two bolts on the starter side that the yoke isn’t fitted to if that makes sense? is it not a good idea to fire it up when it’s on a stand? thanks for all your (and everybody) help never know I might even get this running sometime but for now it’s time for a beer
So you could fit it without taking the engine off the stand and just use it to hold the starter? I don't see why not.
Just make sure its locked against rotation or you might find out what running an engine upside down looks like with the torque of the engine against the mass of the crank and flywheel..
Yes that wouldn’t be good but I could bolt it up on the engine stand and then build up a base of pallets or something below it Do you think that would work? I’m sure I saw something on YouTube where he ran it in the stand I’ll search tonight Cheers
Yes just as a way of holding the starter might run a grinder through it tomorrow and see I’m snookered being in my own
Morning all another day another question lol so yesterday I (we) got the distributor etc sorted so today moving on I thought easy job fit the new exhaust WRONG where the flange off the twin port joins into the top of the exhaust see in the photo I have tried and tried to line it up but it’s like the hole centres are slightly off around quarter of a hole has anyone else experienced this and what did you do OR like the distributor yesterday am I being a div and doing something wrong I have loosen everything to get as much play as I can but I genuinely think the hole centres are wrong as always any help and advice appreciated cheers
Actually, as they go, that's quite a good one! Clamps, mole grips, whatever to get the second setscrew in each end.
That should fit together. Try and loosely fit all of the bolts together for the heat risers before you tighten them down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have been trying that since half six lol and every bolt goes bar this one probably best just to leave it out just now cause I’m only going to be test running the engine then once I can get somebody in to help I can get pulling and pushing with two of us
As the chaps above have said, they are never even close to lining up.. You would be forgiven for getting one screw in, then getting the 2ND as close as you can while you tighten the first one, then running an m6 tap through the second hole if it's not lining up properly.. it's a bit bodgey, but works.
