Nice progress, one of the good things about a camper is there is plenty of variety in the tasks. When you offer up the skin to the slider do check the lower curvature carefully to make sure it matches the B & C pillars, I am not sure I got mine as good as it could have been.
Martin.. Thanks for the response and good advice.. May offer up the door to the bus without the skin on and lay the skin against to understand the correct curviture... Thanks for that
Was bored last night.. MRS is ready to drop to moaning lots Spent an hr in the garage. Cleaned it up.. Scotchbrite the roller bearings. So smooth now. Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
More progress on the door. Used as much of the inner structure as I had to and made the rest Inc the side angles going up. Was awkward in some areas dude to multiple curvitures Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Yes Martin. I figure every 1 hr I get in the garage builds up. Instead of waiting for a full day or half a day.. Keeps me focused too.. Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Great.. I'm now off out in the garage to remove the upper roller arm hahhaha James... Is that polished metal or painted or powdered Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
I chucked all of the little bits like that in a box and took them to my local platers. They zinc plated the lot for me for not much money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hi Kevin, project looks good. Your work so far is looking great. I bet you’re gonna struggle to find the time to get out in to the garage now you have a new born though.
Hi Andy.. Thank you for the feedback.. Just getting stuck in and learning along the way. A combination of this forum and YouTube has helped me alot Inc learning to weld hahahaha Surely having a newborn in the house is even more a reason to get in the garage Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Been a crazy few months at home with Covid and babies haha Small updates Cut the air vent assembly out as the lip to the front skin was shot in soooo many places.. Made a new lip using a shrinker stretcher.. Very happy.. First attempt at using this tool. Hoping to find a local blaster to me (Ilminster) to shot blast the lot and then it will be a much cleaner install. If not.. Get the death wheel out and various attachments Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Its been a while.. So this door... Fitted a new inner structure and outer half skin to find the upper window aperture was unusable! Beyond use/repair. Kindly I was donated a top half a door. This however came in two halves as it came from the states with a bus and customs cut the doors up as they werent declared lol.. Had to reweld the two halves.. Then work out where i wanted to join my existing door to this "new" top.. Im happy with the outcome considering the state it was in and the conditions ive sprayed etc it in.. Its a weight off my shoulders that's for sure. Stay safe everyone Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Yesterdays efforts... A pillar repair.... Not 100% finished yet but near as damn it... Ran out of time yesterday Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
You are making great progress. I found JamesLey’s restoration thread a great help for some of my repairs. UK restorations seem to be among the most adventurous. Rust work can be long and tedious but for some reason I really enjoy making fiddly bits and getting them to fit. I work best in bursts of no more than two hours. When given a whole afternoon, I tend to wander off and start sorting random bits and bobs of which I have too many. Keep at it
Thanks for the post dude.. I understand and agree with you.. Set small tasks.. Rather than.. Rebuild van in one day haha.. Ive struggled of late for momentum but will give myself an hr a day this week so im not sat st the computer all day Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
Managed to get some time spare. Replaced the channel behind the sliding door middle hinge runner. Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
