Question; How on earth did this man get the most powerful Job in the world. Suppose its a bit like Brexit but a 1000 X worse. What could possible go wrong?
In answer to your question: how a country stuffed with talent ended up with two such utterly useless candidates is a mystery to us all. I've ceased to worry about it
He's just a puppet, makes no difference who's in, did they stop bombing the middle east when Obama came in ? No.
People who are too stupid to vote.... voted. I think when you go to vote there should be a thing like one of those quiz machines in pubs where you have to answer a few simple questions about politics, nothing too difficult, maybe name the candidates on the voting slip you're about to receive..... and if you're so clueless about the very subject of the thing you're voting about and can't get 4 out of 5 right you shouldn't get to vote. Everyone should have the right to answer the questions, not the right to vote.
Because it's an awful job to take on ...and it takes unsavoury people to go for it . I couldn't think of a worse job than prime minister or president ...it takes a hard face for the job . And the worse the media get ...the worse politicians will get
As mentioned before I think the Trump bluster and rhetoric appealed to those who hadn't voted before, perhaps in particular those with a family tree that has no branches Now that he's in the Republicans have ridden the wave to control both houses which means they can decide what gets passed and what doesn't, maybe its all been a bit of cunning slight of hand by the republicans using Trump as the diversion
I don't understand American politics at all. It was only when the last lot was going on that I realised that Barrack Obama wasn't part of the ruling party. How does that work?
The same as it does here. We have the Lower House ( your Commons ) and the Senate, when an election is called it's usually for the Lower House and half the Senate. So a political party may have a majority in the Lower House but not have enough Senators to control the Senate (or Upper House ) but they will still be the government because the Senate is supposed to be the House of Review for all government legislation. Lately no government here has controlled both houses without the help of the cross bench independent Senators who have the government by the short & curlies. Clear as mud, is it?
Have a look at the link and reload it each few seconds it increases by a couple of hundred. Look at the map and you can see where the votes are. Quite mazing really. Also check out the wording! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/171928
its progressing quite quickly really. It seems no one wants him to embarrass the Queen. I say let Phil loose on him!
