Cheers matey It's coming on. I'm hoping to have the bed and the rear cushion back tomorrow evening, so it will almost look complete then. Just need to find some handles for the unit and were away. Can't quite believe after all these years im finally actually fixing everything and making stuff work Thanks to @Datsolow I now want a 6 rib box and a bigger engine I have the twin port in the garage, just need to build it bigger
It's coming on Almost there now.....I'm proper chuffed. What ya think everyone? Just Gas pipe work to do, and have the 240 setup tested, then get the paint work sorted Really starting to love the van again
Looks great, huge bed!! How don you round the corners of the edges of the doors? Router bit or just a bit of sanding?
Thanks it is indeed a massive bed no moaning from she who must be obeyed now I hope.....fingers crossed. The doors were all cut out by hand, using a circular saw and a hand saw to finish the corners. Then I've run a 6mm guided router bit around all internal and external corners to give a slight radius Everything has then been sanded by hand so it smooth and splinter free
We went for a drive to sunny Hunny for some chips last night, and found the layout to work well. We can both sit at the table and reach easily, and I can even reach when sat on the buddy seat I'm really really happy with the interior now. Next on the list is suspension. Mines all sagged and crashes a lot. Want to stiffen it up and maybe go lower At least now the interior is done. I'm happy moving on a stage. Thanks for your input guys
Well I managed to complete the van in time to use it for my mates wedding But he picks his timing.......on the way home had a weird running fault, so took it easy, only to get home and find out the carb linkage had ripped itself off the carbs. So a full CSP bell crank setup has been ordered and fitted. I have also now ordered a Butty's bits throttle linkage and a new braided throttle cable so these will hopefully be here and fitted on Saturday Little things keep happening.......but Arthur keeps getting more and more complete, and a better all round vehicle
I love it! Inspiration for me regards the side under the window and I love the 'mini fish surfboard' table! Quick question - what size (diameter) is that gas cylinder? My interior layout is more Westy Berlin so the cooker unit sits in the door, but before I start building it I'm trying to work out how much room I have...
Thanks man I keep plugging away doing little bits haha. The gas bottle is a camping gaz 907 bottle. Not sure on the sizes, prob about 250mm diameter and about 300 high ish.....Google may know more
Well today I removed the bell crank setup again, and fitted the CSP return Spring after stripping it all. This quick vid is the rear linkage working on its own with no cable. I then fitted the Butty's Bits throttle assembly and front return Spring. Fitted the rise joint front link too. And then a new braided throttle cable instead of the fence wire one I had. All I can say is wow!!!!! I now get complete full throttle, the pedal is soft and light and returns well. I should have don this years ago haha.
Nope, as I don't have the correct end cover, so I made my own yesterday out of some bodywork tin. So I don't need it My van used to be a LHD so I've had to manufacture a few bits as they don't ever pop up second hand.
I put these seats in my van, they are from a citreon xantia i used to own.All i had to do was drill four holes to bolt them down it's as if they were made for it
That's cool I couldn't do that with mine as mine was originally not a walk through, so had a full bulkhead and a 2 bench seat. It was also lhd so I had to make my own seat bases from scratch
you've done a great job it looks cool as.I am actually going to piant mine the same colours,i'm using vw candy white and vw british blue.luckily though i won't have as many windows to mask out lol.
