well.......its beeen a looooooooooooooooooooooong time since i posted anthing on ere, been far too busy making all things interior, and finishing him off..... Since april, i've done over 1500 miles in him, and the only problem so far, is weeping rocker covers, which have now been changed to new ones, and weeping push rod tubes, which will be changed next week to jaycee items Anyway, he's going well, we've been away camping in him oncefor a weekend, to get a list of things we need to sort out, and we're going away in him in 2 weeks for the weekend, to see if there is anything else needed Im absolutely loving driving him after all the work, just a few more tiny things to do before i can finally say "he's done" and start on the next project - the '67 beetle We have been everywhere in him, shopping, the allotment, friends and families houses, barbeques, round the queens (sandringham >), RAF marham airsshow and families day, and all round the north norfolk coast a few times here are some pics of him as close to being finished as ever along the way Also i've fitted a new exhaust 4-1 bugpak jobby, and sorted out my carb linkage
Looking mint mate, well done - and happy travels! The C&C Club (NOT the caravan club one next door) on Sandringham Estate is a fab place to camp. They have a fish n chip van that comes round on a Friday night too ^-^
thnks everyone, me and my big mouth, no problems so far, lol...... Engine is now out due to clutch woe's, seem to lose the clutch yesterday and lost all gears when the engine was running......wound up the cable a bit, and back to normal, then 10 miles later, pop and the pedal goes floppy again...cable is slack agaain, now im out of adjustment..... Couldnt figure out what was wrong, so i removed the engine and the clutch this evening after work......Still dont know whats wrong....grrrr......
Absolutely inspirational thread this - Just read from the start and I'm so impressed- Really gives me the inspiration to get cracking with my (so far disastrous) resto!
All fixed turns out there was nowt wrong with the clutch and bearing, so i replaced the engine. The problem was that the clutch cable conduit under the van and the bracked on the side of the gearbox that the cable pulls on, had broken, and all the welds snapped through fatigue under the van. Meaning when i pressed the clutch, the conduit was moving instead of the clutch itself. All fixed and welded back on now, and its even better than before
Went to whitenoise at the weekend was nice to finally get him to a show here's a few piccies... and check out my speed And the roadkill........FLY DEATH MASSACRE!!!!!! Oh, and im now on the hunt for a new seatbelt inertia reel setup, as mine went TWANG yesterday, grrrr........
this could be my favorite bus on here! nothing about this i would change and if mine can be just 50% this when its done i'll be happy K+
CHEERS im gonna be going away in him for a weekend in a couple of weekends, make sure everything is how i want it, then i can finally say "he's finished" I've already started n the new project, lol - a '67 beetle, to go with the bus, his and hers air cooled
