  1. thanks Parky,

hopefully this weather will clear for the weekend and I might get some more done on the bus.......only 3 more panels to go on!!!

still an bit of weldeding to do here and there though.

As the latebay front valance still isnt in stock it looks like I will have to use the early one I've got and continue the modifications!!

If I cant get on to welding I might strip out the headliner of da a bit more filling and sanding

  2. Love the little bit tacked on to hold the small repair in place Diddy, Great work :)

  5. Getting close now Diddy, not sure what we will all do with ourselves once this resto is done, you will have to get another wreck and start again!

  7. Thanks for the comments guys :D

.....I've already got my next project - my daily driver - 1971 MGB roadster which is being kept on the road mostly with duct tape ......hope it gets through the winter!!

Then I might start looking for another bus ;D

although Mrs Diddymen's uncle wants me to restore his MGA roadster (one of my favourite british cars along with the Austin Healy 3000)

.....and I was offered another MGB today for a good price....which I cant afford :(

I dont think youd see your pick up for another 4 years if you let me work on it David ;D

im toying with the idea of selling my valance as i may go for a complete used front clip arches floor etc, whats it worth mr diddy?

  13. That sounds a bit drastic!! is it really that bad???

Apparently a shipment has just landed from Brazil so the valance may be in that according to JK.....but it might not they said they will know by Tuesday when they have unpacked it all

might still be interested if you want to sell it before then, how much do you want for it? ;D

its not that bad, but i think i will be easier and quicker to fit a complete front clip than all the individual bits will all be genuine welds gaps etc. just the price of a new one, see what jk say

  15. I've not updated last weekend work yet :-[ mainly because I didnt get much done........still waiting for the front valance  it's anyones idea when it will turn up :( so I decided to strip out the hammocks and headlining .........from what I've seen it appears Devon wernt too fond of using paint on bare metal

Also took the steering coloumn out and a few other bits. The kids really wanted to help me so I couldnt get an awful lot done - couldnt use any nasty chemicals or paint whilst they were in the bus and I've just about run out of things to weld  ........I was going to star modifying the early valance I've got to make it fit but I didnt....

hopefully get some pics posted tonight :D

  16. that sounds good RUN OUT OF things to weld , i no devons didnt use to much paint , ive seen it when i took of the pop top roof owen nw

  17. About time you done an update, now stop dragging your arse & get it finished lol. :p

  18. heres a little update from last weekend then ;D

didnt get much done, the weather wasnt great and I've not really got any welding left to do until the front valance comes.

so friday I decided to remove the hamocks, curtain rails, fixings and head lining.

not very exciting I'll grant you. there was some staining to the headlining leading me to suspect there might be a hole or leak some where in the roof so I was dreading taking off the head lining. As it happens, I think the staining was due to condensation, a bit of mould and the foam behind the lining getting damp.

heres some pics of the lining removed and the foam that I having great fun removing :(

you can see that Devon didnt seem too keen on using paint .....but at least it is just a bit of surface rust

the side areas look good, I've seen plenty that are rotten up there

I couldnt use any chemicals to get rid of the glue or foam as my kids insisted on helping me.

I did strip out a bit more of the cab area - steering column air pipes etc

but those pics must still be on the camera.

I'll try to post a bit more tomorrow

have you got much to do on the inside Dale, doesnt look too bad from the piccies..a good clean up & paint?

  20. not much at all really, as you said, clean up and paint.

the foam is taking its time to be removed, got to clean off the rust on the bare metal that Devon originally put in and that about it ;D

only a couple of bits for the airvents and heater controls to take off

just wish I'd been at this stage 2 months ago with the front all welded on as well
