Its weird when I think back before the Robowagen found us I was set on buying a T5 van & converting it myself
A few months back I had said to Mrs Robo that I would still want to get a T5 for all the reasons that have been discussed before but I would still want to keep the Robowagen & she agreed, so there I am thinking happy days the best of both worlds, but since the last Techenders @Baysearcher & @baybirmingham 's fault I'm actually thinking it would be much cheaper to Skooby the Robowagen & spend the cash that's left keeping her roadworthy
I'd love to go Scooby powered but Im going to have a crack at building my own motor first (with the aid of the advice available on here) & see what happens!!
I would say follow your dreams!! Being normal is for boring people ;-) I would look at doing several different weekends breaking the whole thing of wild camping in to sections so a weekends of navigation, wild cooking and food prep, shelter building ect. You could touch onto each subject on all weekends but I think you'd give people a better experience this way rather than trying to cram too much into one weekend as you'll find people will not learn anything. It'll also mean people who are into it will probably go to all the weekends rather then just the one meaning more money!! Although more prep on your side but that shouldn't be a problem! I'm sure you have all the knowledge to do it well! As when in the army it's all about preparation and having a key goal to aim for by the end of the lesson/ weekend. Just need to find out about insurance now, they'll also state whether you need any qualifications or not as they might say your experience is enough. They might just require the right risk assessments in place.
A big thank you to everyone that contributed to this thread All the replys i have taken on board and assed I will not be offering wild living weekends as there are plenty of people and courses out there all ready that cater for this I am however considering offering my services as a walking guide
i doubt this venture will come to much, most of us learnt this skill as babies, you could dress up as a labrador and escort blind people around millets though. i'm not helping.
Does that include dog walking... maybe someone can explain walking with lamas to me i never got the point? http://dunreythalpacas.co.uk/
How about approaching these people for a job mate? Work with them for a while, scrutinise their way of working then once you're abit more sorted you could start up on your own with at least an idea of what's required?? Sounds fun and to be doing what you love would be awesome!
Para find your niece what not many are doing, research what you need and go for it!! I did that and I now have a comfortable living and am now looking at taking the step to the next level in it!! You need to start at where your comfortable and work your way up!! I definitely think there is a market for wild camping weekends with a small amount of tuition involved. You'll adapt as you go along but you won't know till you try it!! Do a couple next spring with people you know and get feedback go from there. No one starts earning money from day one it's a learning curve. You have the experience for sure go and hit your goals and stop talking, everyone can talk its to doing that takes the balls!!
