Martin dorey offers somthing unique and special with his weekends http://www.inspiredcamping.com/martin-dorey-campervan-experience/ Im putting proper thought into offering a weekends experiance with me next year It would be based around wild camping and bushcraft I would like to hear what people would like to learn or experiance on such a weekend?
I have so much i could teach So much that i couldent fit it all into a week let alone a weekend Any feedback would be apreciated I could teach water collection and purification but that could take a weekend and you would need to learn other skills before Id love to earn a wage teaching others the skills ive learnt but ive no idea on how to approach it
Fungi identification is a good one, I have lived in the country all my life and still would only eat the obvious ones Maybe a days foraging followed by an evening cook up That's what I would like anyway
In the Autumn what about a days foraging for all the fruits and berries that can be turned into preserves and wines? I've always thought there is a market for picking and packaging things like sloes as it seems to be the in thing now and it would save the luvvies getting dirty
My (60+yo) parents go every year to a friend's wood with other friends for a week of camping "sauvage" and they love it (I'd say "wild camping", but that sounds horrible in the same sentence as "my parents"!) From what I can remember from their happy tales afterwards, they loved learning how to find the right firewood in the forest, lighting the fire and keeping it lit, cooking in/on the fire, and sitting round it and drinking in the evenings! Anything else you offer would be a bonus I reckon!
I'd like to learn about animal prep, killing humanely, skinning, gutting, cutting up, that sort of thing.
Not sure what to expect, but imagine I'd not be allowed to bed early, drunk by 9pm and pass out by midnight then wake to find I've been skinned for passing out so early.
Because we're not lost in the middle of Borneo i think finding a good phone signal is essential so i can find and ring the nearest Tescos which would probably be within about three miles
Seeing people trying to light fires on some sites you could concentrate on the basics wood collection, fire lighting and safe management of a fire then how to cook a proper meal on a fire. Then move on to wildlife watching including things like tracking
Fire starting and different cooking techniques, such as pit cooking and the like. A bit of plant identification would be good too. And shelter construction.
Wild camping spots. Van security.good walks with interesting sites you can only walk to. Not to bothered about wild food tbh.A good fire and a stew would do me.
