westfalia floor heater??

  1. Having a route about the van this morning I noticed there is a gas valve for a heater. Noticed the floor had been patched where the floor heater used to be? do the come up on ebay often or can you get a reproduction. was having a look at the propex but would rather the original system if I can, or whatever is cheaper tbh.

  2. what age is the van? My 78 has a factory fit eberspacher ba6 petrol heater which is under the floor - blows out the existing outlets. not sure if they also fitted gas heaters too.. maybe someone else could advise? or it could be have been fitted by a previous owner? the eberspacher is great btw.

  3. It's a 79 with the full width rar bed and tall oven unit with gas bottles below and with short sink and fridge unit next to the sliding door. The hole is directly between the units in the passageway. I'd say about 6x8 or 9 inches. The gas has 3 outlets, 1 fridge that is plumbed. The cooker is plumbed and the heater outlet is capped off.

  4. so the floor hole is for the heater exchange to the back? Thought that was further back. Mines is the helsinki.

  5. Sorry I don't know the Helsinki set up, but on the Trumatic you can see all that gubbins which hangs through the hole in the floor. It's a sealed unit so the air comes in and the exhaust goes out through the floor. On the ebay picture if you search you'll find other examples. One shows a finned aluminium casting which radiates heat into the interior . It's covered by a protective metal case. None of this connects to the engine heat exchangers.

However It's possible you're looking for a different type of heater. I have seen one which is set entirely below the floor but can't tell you who makes that.

  7. Mine has a pipe for a heater here which has been blanked off but there is no hole in the floor at all? The pipe runs along the side of the fridge and returns in a small "U". Anyone know what heater might have been here? It's a 78 helsinki the same as anyv has linked too...

  8. Mines has been blanked off at the 3 way valve, where is yours blanked off sorry?

  9. YES andy!!!! Thas the exact same spec as mine!!! Cheers for finding, thats a great reference for me. The hole must be for the drip and pipe in as there are no holes in the side of my fridge unit. So what type is that unit then?

  10. Ah, spotted it! truma sb1800 gas space heater. Now to try and source something

  12. That`s a great price - buy-it-NOW !

Thought i`d done well bagging a working propex `compact` for £50 - gotta be worth a punt at that price ...

    :hattip:

  13. Definitely. worth a shot. now just need to have a look at sorting the heat exchange system aswell.

  14. mine is blanked right at the end of the pipe - so runs from the "3 valve" thingy in the gas cupboard, along the floor in front of the vent and then round the fridge...

  15. Iv bought that unit as above :) hopefully easy to pipe up.

  16. Good luck with it. It seems a very fair price with no scene tax. One thought occurs to me. Is yours a German spec camper? If so you may have to consider the gas type and pressure. Mine was set up for 50 mbar on propane, but the one you're getting may be set up for a different pressure and gas. Also German gas couplings are slightly different to UK. There are adapters to get round these problems though.

  17. Thanks very much andy ill have a look :)
