    The reason West End Shows such as Les Miserables have such long runs, despite having the same cast say the same lines each and every night, is because they have an endless line of new audiences to come in and wonder at their majesty.

    An audience that is compelled to see the same show over and over gets bored, especially if they are asked to critique the show and invest their time and thought into said critique. How many ways can you say the same thing?

    Do West End promoters compell that audience to come sit but only say positive things, tell them not to be judgemental when all that audience wants and asks for is a different show as after a while (lets say 3 years for example) its predicable, and, how would you feel if you were asked to give advice on how the show could be improved but were blatantly ignored each and every time. Strangely no they don't because people talk with their feet.

    Feels like that time for me to do that 'self edit' thing I promote and avoid that theatre, and hope the new audiences you see heading to Leicester Square enjoy the show.

    People will always move on to see new shows and have new ideas. But a long running show will have a large number of fans who are loyal to the core as well as a constant influx of new audience members
    Bit like Tlb really. Out with the old. In with the new with people who stay around like they're part of the furniture :)

    I love watching a show and happy to munch on popcorn.
    If I got fed up with it though I'd probably go elsewhere or if I had the inclination set up my own new improved show.

    Oh the irony, I did that with the help of some fellow actors :)

    This is more a sing along sound of music though, all about audience participation.
    I guess Those that go but don't join in or complain about the singing look a bit daft.

    To carry on the narrative...the forum is the theatre not the show...

    All the world's a stage,
    And all the men and women merely players;
    They have their exits and their entrances,
    And one man in his time plays many parts,

    i find it easier to ignore the actors i don't like, just like in real theatre.

  15. Are you referring to any thread in particular or just generalising about the site. Ive been away for a few weeks and would be interested in catching up on this.
    Thanks

    No - not generalising about the site, I've taken advice from wiser 'old sorts' and am opting to use selective hearing from here on in....
