Which eventually bore no resemblance to reality as everyone was worried about have their vans stolen. In fact I notice @MorkC68 is now living in Juarez, Mexico Just using Mark as an example
At least I was honest, I pinned mine in the town we lived in ................. even if the actual pin was actually at the local police inspectors house It's hard to hide a van in a town with only 6 streets anyway
Important point @Terrordales & I'd be up for keeping it simple & just putting a number in the phone for real emergencies when someone couldn't get to the Net. Most of us have recovery, can do a bit of emergency spannering & can be reasonably responsible when the occasion calls so it would be for big issues. Just a suggestion.
Yep...I can see the reluctance in that respect. Maybe no reason to make it any more formal than The Virtual Grapevine...seems to work pretty well...? On a slightly different tack...would this forum (in terms of its collective membership) have any clout when it comes to group discount for breakdown recovery?
Yep, I recently moved there from Corfu - Greece closed down for the winter season hence the relocation. Come march I'll move again, who knows
I'm guilty of that too, I'm afraid. I pointed the pin for my location to Katwijk aan Zee in the Netherlands, home of "the average Dave Gorman" according to statistics. (well, @poptop2 did say I was a geek )
You wouldn't need to use your address, a map with a marker in your local town centre would be good, then you could see how many other TLB members are in your town.
I've seen a few vans around but don't know anyone in my town I have a friend in St Albans (next town) who has a split
Easiest way I can think is plan you journey. Then put a thread up naming all the places you'll be passing through or near. and then members that would be willing to help in an emergency can PM their phone numbers and location to you before you set out.
Sometimes it would be nice to see who lives nearby and see if they want to have a meet up one Sunday afternoon or something.
It is but I'd need to search every profile when if there was a section I could just see who lives nearby
