I am - wanting to get it finally on the road as soon as (prolly be early next year) but depends on the weather. Thanks for the thumbs up - hope yours is coming along!
16.09.2015 On the inside area near the nearside tub, when rotten metal was removed it left the side panel flapping around in the air, as can be seen below: So, some metal fabrication and welding I ended up with this (my welds seem to be getting worse as time goes on....) Plan for tomorrow is some grinding an tarting up. Then, move on to the next thing that needs doing!
20.09.2015 A bit of garage time today.. Started on the tub area - the leading mud guard - before... Cut out the rot and left with a hole to fill Started to weld in and ran out of weld wire - great Started to grind down what I had welded in. Then thought I would try one of the bumber step to see how it looks - works OK. Also, inside near the nearside tub, coats of rust protector and ready for paint.
22.09.2015 Still working on the nearside rear mud guard thingy - now welded in and joined up. A view from under the rear tub. Floor joined to the tub now Just needs grinding down and a bit of a tidy inside and out.
25.09.2015 Tidied up the arch bit on the offside Also the nearside arch and coated with rust preventative stuff Needed to put the infill piece between the side panel and the floor/arch - before Welded in and ground down. Coated with rust preventative stuff. So - this part is finished with apart from paint. Need one more repair piece for the nearside wheel tub, the closing panel at the rear below the battery try so need to order it. That's it for now
Taking apart the rear suspension and not to bad apart from unable to remove the stub axle due to rounded nuts Quick question, how do you remove the rubber conduit that the handbrake cable goes through? Until I do this I won't be able to remove the hub carrier and get it sorted. Cheers - will ask in the technical area also!
It's part of the handbrake cable along with that spring around the cable, it all pulls out of the back plate with a twist - molegrips on the end of the thick metal bit, you'll see a join half way down, the bottom half is part of the backing plate.
07.10.2015 Tried lots of penetration oil but didn't work so took the angle grinder to it (the backing plate is beyond so no major issues). Cut off the back plate totally now so just need to get the stub axle off (next project) then start all over again on the offside (can't wait...)
