Decided not to bother with the removable valence so started to prepare the one I had.

So - start to look at putting the offside rear quarter on now.

Trimming down and trying on for size.

Decided to mount the battery tray to the chassis leg first then should make lining up the rear quarter a bit better

  9. And then a trail fit of the rear quarter.

    It still fits :)

Needed to address an area around the hatch area where the rubber goes before I attach the rear quarter as it was badly rusted (the dark area you see in the channel is old glue..)

    Lined up the rear quarter.

  12. 29.07.2015

Had to leave it for a few days so rust set in :(

So started to grind down the welds and remove the rust.

    30.07.2015

Due to having to leave it in the open over night, put some rust prevention stuff on the welds.

    Started the grinding down process.

Started to join the wheel well together with the cut.

    02.08.2015

Looks like I have added a skim of filler and sprayed some etch primer over it.

Oh - and rear light now on :)

  16. 16.08.2015

Adding in the final piece - horrible piece as it has many curves.

The hole from inside the engine bay:

    From under the wheel arch:

The repair piece cut and being tested for final fit:

    29.08.2015

    Almost up-to-date now (thank god)

Now welded in and the welds ground down.

A bit more tidying up then I will paint and seam seal the remainder of this side.

Followed up with a dusting of etch primer then red primer as seen here:

Filled in the hole in the nearside rear arch area on the other side of the chassis where I removed metal when I was removing the inner panel that sits on the chassis leg (can't remember it's name...)

    Tacked in:

    Welds ground down:

    A coat of rust protection:

Will seam seal tomorrow and put a coat of paint on.
Spent some time putting in the closing panel on the nearside rear tub, but no pics.
Also noticed that the gutter around the side of the roof where the hinges are for the pop top are knackered :(
Ground them down a bit and put some rust protector on them but will need to be cut out and replaced.
Anyone got any off cuts they can spare (need 2 pieces around 5 inches each)??

After seamsealer and rust prevention liquid, added undercoat then topcoat:

    Nearside.

    Offside.

So - next will be the mudguards for the arch tubs so better get them ordered.

  20. 15.09.2015

Bloody weather - now getting darker earlier (as my old man used to say '...getting late early'!!) and also damper so decided to make a little tent to allow me to continue to work on the van.
Works (not sure how well when the wind whips up...

Final hole being filled in the rear arch.

Just need to be ground down then seam sealed, painted etc.

Started working on the inside of this arch as plenty of metal removed from inside so will pop some pics up soon of the progress (if your interested that is...)
