Hi there I am thinking of going back to a type1 engine at the mo I have got a 1700 in van but thinking of going to a bigger type1 what will I need to use of old engine ie flywheel and clutch cheers
not sure that there's much transferable... could be wrong though. I'd be inclined to put a new clutch on the new engine anyway... would you not get a flywheel with the new engine?? if it were me, I'd stick with the type 4. are you still having a lot of problems??
Having loads of Marmite of the guy I brought engine off the show season starts sn and I have got a lvly fresh deluxe van with no engine I really want to shove the engine up the guys arse
I thought of doing this a few years ago but the local VW wizard talked me out of it. He said it was a backwards step and i would regret it.
not sure where you are based Peakynut but Harry Harpic in essex has a nice 1800 engine for sale at the moment. It came out of a van that was having a subaru swap. it's a nice runner and on ebay at the moment.
Here I am Its not a backwards step at all... Just so happens I have a lovely turnkey type 1 engine for sale if you're interested? Everything you need, just attach a fuel hose and away you go. I'll even provide a warranty which will match any of the usual engine builders
I am in Essex just down the road from him the only prob is that if i have to return my engine then I will have no fanhouseing or tinware as I sold mine with my old engine and he surplied me the tins and bits with the new engine so I am a bit stuffed at mo
Possible I could help here as I live near @Joker and I'm travelling down to Essex on Tuesday morning to pick up my own engine let me no if I can help least I can do as joker came to mine this week ( even if he did brake it and poor swarf in my oil)
