  2. I do agree with Pickles but tonight I exercised my democratic right not to take part in this fiasco.
Absolutely no information has been given as to who is standing, why they are standing and what their priorities are.
I thought of going and just spoiling my ballot ticket but applied the same enthusiasm as the candidates whoever they are and didn't bother.
Wonder if enough voters turned out to format a quorum

no vote from me or the missus, its a complete joke. waste of money, and a brilliant way to make the police political :(
hopefully the pitiful turn out will send a message that we the people didnt ask for it and dont want it

  6. Another non vote here.
Living as we do on a very small but very private island somewhere on the River Trent,
the present Mrs Fishtrousers & I are registered postal voters and several weeks ago we received the notification of the poll.
On it was an e-mail address to find information about the folk standing,
or you could phone a number and ask for info to be posted out to you.
I phoned but never received anything.
Then my postal voting papers came telling me to return them immediately.
So, return papers with a box ticked with no idea who was in the box or what he/she/it stood for
    I don't think so.
I think it's all been a colossal cock up.

  7. No vote here, didn't get any information about who was running for it (you want my vote then give me the information dont make me hunt for it). To be fair I wasn't going to vote anyway.

And those that say people died for our right to vote, yes I agree, for parliament. Not for some jumped up 100k a year commissioner.

  8. Was there an election. Must have missed it!

  9. :laugh2: :laugh2:

  10. I did notice on the Waterstone's Twitter that they were suggesting voting for James Gordon (Commissioner for Gotham City) or Sam Vimes (Discworld novels - Commander of the City Watch) :))

  12. don't see the point in the over paid roll, We stuggle to see our local mp's that have a smaller area to cover let alone a person who has a whole county, Really what difference is this person going to do, see what the community want!! look at way's of saving money "ah that'll be my job first then!!!"

  13. Didn't vote....never done that before. Not apathetic just couldn't see the point of this "reform". One person to represent all of Kent or will there be a new tier of paid assistants lurking in the wings to replace those who did the same job but unpaid? Perhaps we'll be issued with a Bat torch to attract attention. ::)

  14. So we end up with commisioners with a party political agenda representing who? Not us, that's for sure. More politicians can never be a good thing.

  15. Better response on here than at the polls, where do I get my bat torch .

  17. It would have to be maidstone as we havnt got any on the island after 5pm

I live in South Kesteven where only 16.14 per cent of a population of 131,100 (in 2007) so about 21,000 only voted.

Not sure if its good or bad we got an independent chap.

Taken from his victory statement, written before the election.

“A commissioner backed by a public mandate has real power. I would want to use that power, on your behalf, to tackle the Government about its unfair treatment of Lincolnshire"

Not sure but 16.14 per cent doesn't look like much of a public backing from here.

    Silver Needs points/will pay!

Just been reading about the results of this election, it estimated the election process cost between £75m & £100m to run and the 41 new positions will cost between £2.7m and £4.1m per annum.

All this for something that was apparently previously being done for free.

    Bargain.
