  1. Drained fuel tank renew hose and filter from tank to pump and then pump to carbs.
Also renewed all fexi brake hoses, over the past two days made new pipes from master cyl to front brakes bled brakes completely renewing brake fluid, just got rear wheels to wire brush inside and spray paint

They work well for a while but the heat from the engine makes the silicone go yellow and they grow dimmer.

  5. Drained the gearbox oil, pleased to find there was a couple of litres and it's clean. Pulled the bell housing off and there's no small bits or flakes of metal in it so I'm hoping the rest will be ok when I eventually get round to a complete strip down.

It was ok when we last used the van but on the outside the box is quite crusty where rust flakes have landed on it and there's been galvanic corrosion.

Changed the Nylock nut on the alternator clamp. It vibrated loose in two days despite being done up tightly. As I could remove it by hand, I think it had become a slightly stiff nut.

As I’m using the crew cab more I thought I ought to tax it

And I made a gizmo to secure the mountain bikes in the back. Cheap, simple and so far, works a treat

  8. Gave his poptop a scrub with vinyl cleaner from Screwfix. Did unexpectedly well, apart from the really stained bits. Recommended.

Braced myself for rustproofing the front and beam before the weather turns. Good wirebrushing and degrease, then on with a lick of EpoxyMastic. More to come this week...

Had a productive day on Majors roof cap, got it all cleaned down, scrubbed with fibreglass cleaner, keyed and the inside undercoated. It should look good when repainted!

Fortunately it's just the seal. Problem remedied with a bit of bait and some more traps for the winter...

  14. Drove the pink van to a garage in Gateshead, couldn't find second gear but it was very quiet, got to be the 4 way exhaust, first time I've had it out. Comfy van. Getting it back all serviced etc and a roof by proud to pop on by November 15th apparently

  15. You dared to drive a pink van in Gateshead ?

Your second gear gone missing is most likely either the plate under the gear lever needing a little tweak or the coupler at the gearbox nose is loose or worn and sloppy.

  18. It's not even a bit pink, it's full on hardcore bubblegum pink, however people probably run down the same dual carriageway faster during the Great North run, I was not rapid

  19. The bus has 36k miles so I'm hoping it's anything other than a goosed gearbox, but it's got an after market shifter, so hopefully it's just the plate

  20. Fixed the plug. All interior electrics off leisure battery now working via fuse box. Then it hailed - I didn't want to be a fair weathered bay owner but hail ruddy hurts!
