0 to 55 - 16.5 secs 0 to 60 - 20 .4 secs Standard motor with dells fitted (28 chokes). Full camping gear inc full gas and water and Viking roof, so almost a high top. Approx as its hard to hit the screen and watch the speedo. Will video it next time.
Blimey!! I thought I was quick. Oh well I was top for a bit What sort of devil wizardry engines have you got @zedders and @Dicky ?
Given other times im going to have another run at some point. I expected about 20 tbh. The dells certainly help!
Don't worry my van was running Marmite and only just made it to bang bang 60 mph, you may be laughing now but you wait
Both you and I are under exhausted? It's the hx's and I'm not giving them up so that's that. I've never given it full thrash from 0mph before and not likely to do it again. My all stock 1700 was amazingly smooth at 60 in 3rd with 3 rib gearing. This one sounds as if it would like to blow the exhaust off.
As for pretty good. Im doubting my own figures already. Need to set a camera up as that will vid and so times will be displayed properly etc. I do however know my speedo is bang on at thirty but reads fast at 70 ie 70 isnt! But not sure what it is so im thinking sat nav but dont know if they read instantly or whether they need to catch up?
im off out to see what effect nailing it has had on my little oil leak issue. Lol Youve probably got a good point. I still havent got my noggin around why a 1700 is quicker than a 2 litre. Its a shorter box too!
Mine's within a gnat's up to 60, then to get to satnav 70 I need 73-74 on the speedo. It had a 1600 from new so maybe that bit of the speedo mech above 60 hasn't seen much action before and still has oil, or something.
Shorter stroke, bigger valves. Power, it was a car engine. Compared to 2l style, mine was a bit slow below what I'd guess was 3000rpm, then off it went.
Well I might sometime but the first challenge is to find a level road of sufficient length and free from tractors to do it. It's all hills around here!
