  6. I bent the gauge holder in a vice so I can see it from driving position easier

I put the gauge where a clock would have gone in the third space on the dash. I found this useful because I would drive the bus at 120 degrees C whatever speed that was..

And my bus uses a dipstick sender.

  10. Mine were here:

    Not necessary now. ;)

I had a VDO sump sender, but it was on a T-piece half-way down the return pipe back from the external oil filter.

  11. Is that a rev counter for the disabled ;)?

  14. An old oil pressure gauge I had suffered from a dodgy sender, and the needle flickered all over the place. An elderly lady asked me if it was a rev-counter and I quickly denied it to reduce her smirking

  15. You can't see very well if you hit the shift light when driving in the dark

  16. Who needs a rev counter? VWs should be driven by feel and sound.

In the words of the great philosopher Noddy Holder "cum on feel the noize"

  17. You may shoot off the road after dark and be horribly maimed, but at least you haven't over revved the engine
