anyone ever fitted either 15 , or 16 inch syncro rims? they are pretty cheap and readily available Stock looks, skinnier profile tyres....
Or brickwerks... 15s http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/t3-parts/t3-syncro/mefro-steel-wheel-6jx15-et30-5-112.html 16s http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/t3-parts/t3-syncro/mefro-steel-wheel-6jx16-et30-5-112.html Not genuine mind
just thinking with a set of 9mm spacers these would be bob on, and increase the choice of tyres available
Mercedes or VW/Audi steel wheels in 15" or 16" are only £40 new aswell. Lost en france has some i believe. I want some for my T25 but they are in France though.
Similar to the wheels that folk stick on 4 lug golfs and the like, usually referred to as golf g60 steels. In reality I think they're standard vw winter wheels that the continentals use for guess what.... Their winter tyres. Referring to them as g60 steels probably adds a few quid to their value as they sound a lot more sexy than vw winter wheels I suspect that these are the 5 lug versions I love them.
I don't think you'd need spacers - those mefro 16's are wider than the oe wheel and lower offset so the outer rim will sit around 15mm further out than a stock wheel.
They're called G60 steels because they are the stock base wheel for the G60 variant of the Mk2 Golf. Standard Mk2 Golfs had 14" steel wheels as standard (unless alloy wheels were a specified option) whereas the Golf G60 had 280mm front brake discs, and therefore needed 15" steels as the standard wheel because the 14's wouldn't fit over the bigger brakes.
maybe i've misunderstood, but i've always thought that offset refers to the distance between the centreline of the wheel to the bolt face.... So ET 39 means 39 mm between centreline to face a lower ET of say 30, would mean the rim sits further inboard....
