Silent gliss rails

  1. Only in my dreams Barn.

  2. I've got my head round it now Barn, I can fix it to the left side(back) of the slider rail cos the roller doesn't come up that far.

I know that's what you were getting at Barn, but me being thick had to sit in the van with the door closed to see what you meant. Lol

  3. Ours goes over the top of the door track. We either lift the end of the curtain or just don't close it to the end of the track. With the awning up no one can see in anyway.

  4. You can see from this pic that I don't have a lot of room to play with, the j strips for the ply roof are low down.
The eagle eyed amongst you will see a slight error I made a couple of years ago when I did the cab curtain rail. (Look left)I didn't bring the rail around far enough( cos that ridge in the metal on the B pillar was in the way, so rather than come out over it I stopped it there. Resulting in the curtains bunching up on the B pillar and not clearing it. Top tip that if you're thinking of doing the cab.

  5. on the Devons the rail is normally bent around the curved sliding door track....it doesn't follow the exact profile as the sliders would snag...with hindsight, i would've rigged up a separate section that fitted directly onto the slider, as it's a PIA when you open the door and then have to fanny about with the curtain before entering/leaving (especially after a few bevvies)
Same as for the Tailgate curtains....pains me to admit it but the westy set-up is better IMO

  6. Yep I'm gonna attach it to the back of the slider rail following the curve an probably fix the rest of the rail just above the straight section of slider rail to avoid fouling.

  7. will take of pic of mine if you like....still in me dressing gown at the mo....it's a hard life!

  8. second photo shows the clearance between the track and the rail....any tighter radius and the sliders stick

  14. Back to work tomorrow. I'll do it in the week. Lol

  15. I think i'd be inclined to screw it to the channel that holds the ply in, I used little self drilling screws (they have a little drill bit on the end)
    This sort of thing:

The rail when bent out round the end of the slider track will support itself but you need to follow the curve and also twist the rail or else it will naturally bend out and run down hill (if that makes sense?)
