rickyrooo1's new ride, don't look if you don't like T5s.

  1. I thought after the T2 you were going for a full width one as you normally cook etc in the awning?

Changed plans, figured later in life when the lab carks it we might be able to be self sufficient and do more one nighters with no awning so want a bit of a compromise, but hopefully can plan it how we want.

  4. Like those seats. I'm presuming you can sit backwards in them and look out the back when they are upright?

  5. Fair enough plus you have a massive roof bed as well.

i guess so, obviously the base isn't as deep as the front side but it's strong enough, i'd imagine kids would like it, thing is it will probably have the bedding and pillows on during the day anyway.

to a point although i've taken half the roof bed out to give us more headroom, nobody sleeps up top we usually chuck our clothes and general crap up there.

anyone any thoughts on what i should do with the space under the bed? shall i fix some sort of wooden frame round it or maybe drawers? @sANDYbAY you like a bit of interior design and space saving what do you suggest?

Put same wood as your units will be with drop down cupboard doors to also match your units, i can store loads under mine

just wondered if runners of some kind would be easier

I think I would make a two ended full extension drawer with high quality ball bearing runners and a heavy weight loading. Two ended full extension would mean you can open the drawer from either the back with the tailgate open or inside from under the bed.
You could easily design a lock/handle which would open or lock the drawer from either side. You could even incorporate a 'secret compartment ' which houses the speakers in the drawer front.
The awkward wasted space on the 'nearside' between the bed and the van wall is crying out for the propex, the consumer unit, the leisure fuse box and possibly even a leisure battery.
The 'offside' needs a long storage section for things like flagpoles, windbreak posts, camping chairs etc.
You'll need to sit in the van with a coffee and a fag and quietly dream about what you want it to do/look like.

i don't smoke or drink coffee but i get the idea. 'Tis great having a blank canvas and not worrying about "ruining" an original van.

I'm guessing no not very well if they look as ours do for the seat bit is very very narrow and the upright is straight up.
You can but no in a comfortable relaxing way.

Ous is open at the rear with a simple padded faux leather clad front panel. Gives loads of storage, without draws/boxes and removable front panel fitted and front makes for multiple carrying of stuff day to day use.
