  1. Nice job Dicky but, as I mentioned before, I believe the original matting is glass-fibre, not asbestos.

  2. have popex but not fitted  think the zorst thing comes down to cost but am hanging onto old exhaust until it can hang on no more so will have a bit of heat once new engine in.

  3. my mechanic thinks that in my old t1 ones that there's no asbestos but i agree with dicky and would rather be safe than sorry esp when it comes to little uns travelling.

  4. Thanks mate. It was fubarred anyway so best safe than sos

  5. top job! I need to do the same!

  6. All fitted now and done my PRTseals too. New flappers and idle fan hoses nicely sealed. Left it on idle (with a good few blips on the pedle from time to time) on start up for a while without the undertins on to burn off all the grease and oil from assemby. Interior got to about 34C (in about 10 minutes) with my inline fan running - i could touch the case of the exchanger on the side furthest away from the manifolds and it wasnt overly hot. Need to give it a run now and just make sure the insulation doesnt get tooo whiffy when its properly warm!

    Ermintrude and paradox like this.
  7. Been out for a drive. Flaapers fully open all the time. Heat was there after only a couple of minutes. once up to temp lowest cabin temp was 27C, with booster fan running got up to an indicated 40 (no im not on drugs and yes it was hot) maintained mid 30sC on the motorway at 65/70. Ambient temp around 36C. Or perhaps I dreamed it! Totem was hot to the touch and air coming out of the vents maxed out around 70C
