Removing mould from a Westy pop top

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Lofty, Apr 30, 2013.

  1. How do you get rid of that horrible white/grey mould that grows on the inside of the pop top without too much damage to the flock ? Do you brush, wash, steam ?
    All suggestions welcomed.ta.

    White vinegar & water.

  4. I used a softish brush and a weak solution of bleach and warm water. Have a look in my show us your ride thread for pics

I'm sick of this too. 2 or 3 times a year i go up top with bleach and water and scrub with a green sponge, the type you use for the washing up. Most of my flock has flocked off anyway.

  8. This for me too, what flock?

  9. Perhaps it is just mould then :)
Seriously though there is a light short flock on the inside of the roof. Just enough for the mould spores to bed themselves down :(

  10. I used flash, water and a sponge ... Worked very well.

  11. Has anyone tried to use Milton(bottle steriliser) and water instead of bleach and water. The wife said she used to use it to get rid of mould on tents when she was a kid.Might not be a harsh as bleach and poss smell better

  12. Know what you mean Lofty,
Weve got the flockā€¦and the mould

  13. soft clothes brush, does the trick on mine

  14. Little update. I had a go this weekend gone with diluted bleach. I realised that some of uneven look was the various degrees of flock covering as it had worn away. Anyhow, it does look better and I know now that the mold has gone.

  17. You guys should also think about keeping a damp trap or 2 in your vans over winter... will help keep the damp levels down a lot
