Poison. It’s the only way. We had an infestation years ago, and it drove me to distraction. Poison in trays was the only thing that worked.
Mick, Nothing to do with the rats in the shed, but the ones running the ferries. A friend on the island has started a petition if your interested. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/231506 Sign and share if you approve Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk
we once had them on the bird feeder, we stopped feeding the birds are they went and bothered someone else
..... make sure it's not the warfarin type or it'll thin their blood and they'll get cold and come inside to die, and you'll have a big stink and fly swarms instead
But then owls, foxes and badgers eat the dying rats and get poisoned too. I live in a barn conversion and every winter the buggers get into the void round the house and use it like the M25. I reckon prevention is better than cure. I’ve just taken delivery of 30m of ratproof mesh for round the soffits. https://www.robinsonwirecloth.co.uk/online-shop/Rodent-mesh-c12866671 If it’s useful @3901mick They can cut it in all shapes and sizes. I’ve gone for the size four mesh. But cheese n onion McCoys is a fantastic idea and a damn site cheaper. Heh.
Incidentally my sister’s garage was complete infested. Rats shat on or ate just about everything. I got a skip and today she, her daughter and I did a mass chuckout. Such a glam lives we lead.
There was once a plan to do this... but the Victorian crackpot wanted a tunnel from Yarmouth to Lymington .. where the sea is over 50m deep in places... If you get a fixed link, the place will truly become infested with coachloads of wobbly tourists doing Christmas in a Sandown Hotel ..starting in July... And it will be easier for East Cowes inhabitants to keep in touch with the Afghan producers by buying their Waitrose Fairtrade poppy juice...
The tunnel thing is unlikely to ever happen, isn't part of the Brexit plan to give the EU the Isle of Wight. Joking aside it won't be done unless it can be seen to 'pay back' in some way.
It's one of the most expensive ferry routes per mile in the world and the companies running the ferries I believe are investment firms who care little for good service. Last time I went over I was lucky to get a £50 return due to a friend's contacts. The ferries are unreliable. People living on the island are earning less than counterparts just over the water, are turned down for jobs because of their location and the island doesn't have the medical facilities needed. The government (current or past) has had no problem putting tunnels under London or elsewhere in the south. Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk
