Jettas are rare? I better go and get that 2 door mk2 thats sat in a garden near my brother inlaws place. Good luck with the deadline. The housing association that owned the flat i used to live in has a clause saying no working on vehicles in the parking area. They turned up for an inspection 2 hours after my bluebird blew its radiator apart. Got threatened with eviction for that. Is this the same van?
Most of the roof, rollbar and window bits on that look like golf ones anyway. I think that looks smart....vw missed a trick there! I cut a Webasto canvas roof into mine....another one they missed coz it looks great and was never offered as a factory option
One of my mates has a '79 golf auto with a dealer fitted webasto roof. I've been trying to buy it for years as it's been sat unused in his garage nearly 10 years.
owt fron back in the day seems to be fetching big money The cars i sold ten years sgo for not much money and even the few ive scrapped would have made me a pretty penny nowadays
I had a couple of escort rs turbos, a turbo technics xr2, 205 gti's etc in the mid 90's. Sold them all for low money. All worth a lot now lol
They've become rare because people take them to pieces, sell half the bits then leave them languishing in a lock-up for years... There's loads of them really, they're just hiding.
That and the fact that as most of them approached 10 years old they were as rusty as a 40 year old bay!
I think part of it was that the 80's happened.....the birth of conspicuous consumption, and the throwaway society meant that older models of vehicle were sacked off when a shiny new version came along. The Mk1 jetta was a great car.....huge boot, roomy and I think great styling.....shame its taken almost 30 years to be appreciated lol
Panels should be here monday. I ordered a hammer and metal shaping dolly set last night....does that count as progress
Lol well I did a bit of body filling yesterday then ran out of filler. Got a 7kg tub of Easy 1 on order now. Once ive got everything here it'll motor on quickly but im basically treading water atm ive found a big hole on the inner top rear quarter panel, the one behind where a wardrobe sits on a RHD, obviously from the roof being rotten above it and letting water down it. Only needs a cleanup and plating but its above the filler neck so im guessing its a tank removal scenario to do it?
