To be honest its a weight lifted as now i dont have to live up to any expectations Ill still keep the van tidy and of course mechanicly safe and sound just not to the extremes on the asthetics
You can't have shiny show quality and keep it outside or use it in the real world. At least you know your van has been made solid and safe. You've done the best anyone could ever do.try not to be upset by surface rust and get camping ASAP.

Spot on dude It was never intended to be a show van Aim high and if you drop in the middle then at least you have tried and end up with somthing better than if you never bothered in the first place Its more annoyance at spending money on products to do the job properly and then spending time and care prepping and applying them properly coupled with aftermarket parts you have spent good money on Only to fail big time for what should be a normal expectation from them This made in china thing thats banded around is rubbish I had many parts from bearings to cvs to rubber boots on my passat all bought cheap as chips of ebay made in china and not one ever failed Yet ive bought best quality stuff for my van from main suppliers and its failed without even been used as you would expect a camper to be used. The main good thing that has come from this is that its been a real world test of various paints and products so others can avoid spending their money on somthing that doesent do what its supposed to
