After hours of grey grinding ,cutting ,trail fitting I had done this It's been a few years since I have done anything like this ,don't think it turned out to bad ,not done any filler work at all just whacked some paint on it to seal it up
This was a nice solid step still I chipped away the filler , After 2 hours of cutting away the rot again it's done ,it's not show standard but it never gonna be a show bus ,just want it solid
When I stripped back the engine bay for re painting I had loads of the same stuff stuck in all the corners. When I chipped it off ice as left with pristine solid metal. Ours is a 1975 Aussie Bay.
Had a few hours today so got grinding The floor is gonna need a wee bit of welding mostly round the front jacking point but could of been worse I suppose
dont use schutz USE STONE CHIP its paintible schultz isnt and mot men hate it as its used to hid bodges owen nw nice work
That stuff is like spray on rubber gonna use it for the sill edges etc ,also putting the bus in for mot without any painting underneath so it can get a proper mot
use stone chip to do sills again its fully paint able , pleasant to the eye , after primer after paint
So another update finally I have finished the welding ,that's 2 inner outer sills ,cargo floor repairs ,one top hat ,drivers step ,rear corner ,battery and a few other wee bits ,good feeling to have finally put the welder away and do something else ,
Have deceide I hate filler work ,pretty hard to get it all flat again ,makes u wonder how much effort someone goes to wwhen u see a whole side inch deep in filler to hide the rot underneath ,a recent orange bay in the restoration section springs to mind.
Spent the whole day doing body work I really hate this stuff ,and I surpose some good news I have finished 99% of the jobs for mot ,only thing holding me back now is the brand new cv boots I bought and fitted have now split wide open even without turning a wheel ,a bolt for the rear suspension arm and a few bulbs and earths to sort ,happy days
