Go on then fill yer boots - blast me, console me shake your head in bewilderment at me - shake me up, make me see sense call me a tit - whatever, but tell me what to do cos i'm stuck on this one!

I have found a t25 diesel local to me ( very local it fell in my lap ) I did think it was some sort of bodged westy Joker initially so asked the chap servicing it what it was he guessed Westy i was dubious because of the side hinged roof, so i asked on club 80 - 90. turns out it is a bilbo with what we think is a Devon roof, so it's a uk flat pack conversion done by some conversion company in the uk based on a uk bus.

I took her for a spin last night and the diesel engine went very well lots of torque for a little un and no signs of bodging, interior is all there a few handles and things need sorting all the the og curtains are stored there, the whole thing is very tidy and has loads of service history - 189000 miles. tested two weeks ago no advisory's!

He wants nearly 5k for the t25

But - i have to sell this to buy it

What the hell do i do, I know the t25 make more sense re travelling and camping luxury but you know how much work i have put into Rhubarb and how i love the ruddy thing- Lou n Will say do what i feel best Neil says he will never speak to me again if i sell Rhubarb ( i think he is serious too) but i know i would be travelling further afield if i had the t25?

    Over to you!

I think maybe reimo conversion, looks just like you bay :). Practicality wise, fuel economy reliability, proper heating etc wise it's a better bet to take the t25, 5k is sensible / on the cheap side if its as good as it looks

The club 80-90 guys are going for "Bilbo " Dave? Do you think those interior cupboard handles can be sourced and what about the lump jx or turbo lump without the booster on?

Other than that it is spot on - no rot, well serviced the cowling needs putting back on the column but well tidy everywhere else.

  8. Bilbo are still converting VWs as they have been for the past 20 or so years. So interior bits and pieces may still be available.

  9. you tit ..

    its a t25 ...

Were they not the official converters after Westfalia?

  11. Yes, and they still have VW approval for their latest stuff too.

  12. I'd do it and never look back. But you have a lot history with rhubarb, so it's a more difficult decision.
Question is, why do you keep looking out for them? Then agonising over what to do. Is it a form of self torture? :D

I do like them and i know deep down they make more sense, my whole vw relationship over 35 year has been type 2 aircooled i know them and feel comfortable with them but they are getting so bloody expensive to run i end up camping locally and not using her to her full potential - it is torture - sense versus nostalgia and pure love of the type 2 aircooled!

 :( - where is that blooming embarrassed smiley when you need it?

will you camp more if you get it? is the money you'll save on fuel worth the swap? bays get more waves than wedges, could you see yourself getting rid of the bay you saved just to save a few quid? i like the idea of the mpg and a diesel BUT if i had a t25 it would need to look nice (like that red one you sent me off ebay) that one just looks bland. soz mate i wouldn't swap vans for that, i'd have it as a 2nd but not as my main.

No mate you're right it does look a little bland - well put, but i can't help feeling it's right for reliability and the extra's can be added if i wanted to - bottom body kit wide wheels and mudflaps are the difference between that and the joker i sent you, it is still tempting even if the interior looks like a dentists surgery! o_O

here's my take, is it about the camping or the journey? I know I moan about the mpg in bolly and true it would make more sense to sell and get summat more economical but you become attached to these vans, I've only had mine just over two years yet when I had that chap offer to buy I felt sick, i'm not sure I could really get rid, if you want mpg and reliability get a bongo, you're just compromising by thinking t25 vs bay.

  18. Looks tidy malc , Fred and wilma have one, its more roomy , goes better on hills , ive been thinking about one ta use abroad and stuff, i like my t2 but i dont think id want to do the mountains of switzerland init ,and thats where id like to go in summer. With the no road tax thing if it were me id think about having both or giving /lending the other to the family maybe on a share thing? You can take the blandness away with a bit of art stuff. Seems reasonable price too and if anything they are going up in value more? Its only money buy it then choose,at least then your know more in your heart what you want .

as reliable or looked after as it looks - if it's done that mileage on that engine without some major work it will fall to you to do it, what is it 1600? turbo? eitherway a 28? year old diesel with 190k miles is gonna want some work soon.
