It is likely that as the oil level fell things got hotter as there was less splashing about.. I know that with my first oil leaking engine the dipstick sender tenperature reading used to tend to creep up as the oil level dropped even from the top mark to the bottom mark. That engine was unlikely to sieze, more like the crank was trying to climb out of the end of the engine and hide somewhere ..
