Para how are you measuring it? I was always told that if you can feel it but not see it then its OK? or was that something else? Correct me if thats wrong will you someone.
I can feel it move, see it move and hear a clunk when pulling it back and forth I measured it by screwing a bolt with a large washer into the case and used a feeler gauge to measure the distance between the washer and fly wheel when the flywheel was pulled away from the washer
I take it this cheap vernier would be ok for getting a proper measurment? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6Inch-150mm-Digital-LCD-Caliper-Micrometer-Vernier-Tool-/190767176191?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D4063739588604377846%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D190767176191%26
I use one of these and stick the magnet to the flywheel then position the gauge on the case. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DTI-Dial-Indicator-Gauge-with-Magnetic-Base-Stand-Engineers-Micro-Measuring-/251181547788?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item3a7b96410c
They're fine for general measurements... I have tried using one to measure endfloat, and it is a little hit n miss A mag base, and a dial gauge is the way to do it properly... but then as a one off investment, it is a little bit on the steep side 8)
Cheers guys Im more skint than a skint thing during skint week at the moment so im just going to shove the engine back in a corner and forget about it for now
