Oh poop end float problem

    another option is to machine down a bearing to make a shim to sit in the case to take up the damage and bond it in place, I would 100% confident that would fix it long term, to find a bearing over sized 1.33 mmm or a bit less is unlikely and to have one machined as a one off would be expensive, I shall call it the case saver space saver bearing set :)
     
  2. Ok Ive had a quick look at this case ive got, the thrust has been cut as it measures 21mm All the bearing seats look ok and all the dowels are there ok. The only issues I can see are that some plum has cut 2 or 3 of the head bolts off and where the plug goes at the end of the cam looks a bit damaged but not that it would cause any problems with a bit of fiddling

    My camera is poo as is my ability to take decent pictures. If its any use let me know and we can see if The late bay society can get an engine case from the Isle of Wight to up Norfff for free :) I can get it to Chertsey Surrey in a couple of weeks time :)

    My turn now I have just tried measuring mine and have 0.24mm can i get away with this
     
  4. You could see if that's wear or bearing movement... beings that it's that small, likely as not it's wear... could then be as simple as re-jigging the shims!!

    Thanks had another look and i am getting readings of 0.18mm to 0.23mm with my basic set up useing a digital vernier the thing is this only became apparent after i removed the barrels.
    To replace/add shims i take it its a spilt case job
     
  6. No need to split the case to shim it matty you just remove the clutch and flywheel

    You'll find out if bearing movement is part of your end float if you shim it down to the low end of the spec because the crank will lock.
