I know of three competent 'mechanics' who have left a plug 'loose' in a VW aircooled on the same motor!...one is myself, the other two are both paid professionals with excellent reputations and both very good at what they do... and the reason for leaving a loose plug? Because the thread has more or less stripped out and snugging it down will ruin what's left...the job was to get the thing in good running order, quickly and for the bare minimum charge....the other job is to drop the engine (Bug) and timesert the plug hole..as it stands, it's a known issue and will be addressed as and when, but for now, it chugs away quite happily.... I'm not saying this is what's happened with Darren's bus, but sometimes mechanics will do a 'make do' job and advise the customer...which is fair enough
Believe me! Havin a laugh is not skyping with someone in Sweden on a stormy, rainy day in the Scottish highlands trying to get an old vw to start. It was so bad he had to go in the drivers seat to hear what i was saying.,
in fairness, it was a generous thing you did and thinking about it, I'm amazed we haven't had the notion to use Skype up until now
If you are in a well lit quiet garage then it would actually work ok. I think using a webcam has better quality though.
Darren would point the tablet camera at stuff and pount with his finger,i would dir ct him right, left or forward etc. It was frustrating though but enjoyable...
Post to go to 1000 and yes Barney I nailed it, they were really impressed with what I could manage. I feel 10/10 this evening.
Actually this whole thing is blown out of proportion. I am soon going to stop following it if it wasnt for the jokes.... Colin.Darren.Duncan Macrae....lol! Im getting stickers made...Who wants some?
On a Type 4 engine its not major works at all, rockers off pushrods out slide em out replace the seals, refitting is the opposite of removal
