  1. splitstop63 Is that brave or stupid? Not sure which yet!

  2. Decided to bolt the spare dash in to stop the steering wheel flapping around

Rear corner offered up. Will get on with welding once all the small repairs are done.

Sincerly Keep at it!!! At the End you Will Know Your Van Inside out and Every Time you Drive it You will Beam From Ear to Ear

Good Luck AND NEVER GIVE UP!!!

  4. Sorry, double photo post. Corrected!

  5. Little bit of cutting tonight. Need to repair the inner roof panel before I can start welding the rear corner. I need to invest in a metal folder, would make everything so much neater!

Still confused about my pop top fittings. My top doesn't have the corresponding struts to match up to these points

Also, what would this be for?

Should keep you photo lovers happy!

  6. My roof was the same, the joys of panel van conversions

  7. Been up and done some more welding. Have filled in these two bits so far. As I was welding away I smelt something burning, thought hmmm... set something alight. Then... something feels hot! A bit of wire had dropped on my thigh and burnt through my jeans!

  8. Nice work so far! Just read the entire thread.
Motivating me to do more on mine.m

    Keep it up.

P.s I set myself alight at least once a month. Haha

  9. Thanks for the comment! Need to get more done, but the breeze was getting up and playing havoc with the argoshield

  10. When I put the rear valance in place and look through where the engine lid lock should be, the striker is about a centimeter or so out of line. Whats the best way to correct this?

  11. Have you welded the inner rear valance in? Sounds like the only option is to move the whole thing over by a centimetre, which is going to be a huge pain if you've put it in

  12. Not welded yet, thought the two chassis arms may have shifted when I cut the old one out. I'll offer it up again when I go next.

  13. Some more work tonight. Have started to rebuild the inner roof section ready to do the outer skin

This is how far the striker is out by

I would need to remove the edge bit attached to the left chassis rail to make it fit

Also managed to drop a glob of hot metal on my arm and burn myself!

  14. Dude remember what they told you on your course and clean up the metal to bright steel before welding

  15. The first shot is of the inside of where I had been welding. One of the first things we were told was prep is everything!

  16. Started stripping down the engine

Not sure whats going on in the intake

Also did some more work repairing the inner roof section, but the wind was getting up and messing with the shield gas again. So glad I rented a BOC cylinder rather than using the small bottles.

  17. Anyone know where I can get a floor repair panel where the pressings line up? Got one from GSF but they are a mile out.

  18. Need opinions on this chassis repair. I had it vee'd out a bit to allow the weld to get in but I'm not 100%. It seems pretty solid and I've jumped up and down, rocked it back and forth and it doesn't move.

This one I went over the top again:
