  1. Looks like neptune blue to me Kenzie

  3. Less words, more grinder action. At least until I ran out of discs and the rain came. Started to cut out the rotten outriggers and the under floor support today, got the chassis rail cleaned up and ready to weld.

  4. I have finally used my welder and training in anger! ;D I tacked the chassis rail in place ( it's still going to need tweaking) and I will finish the welding on it when I get the inner rear valance as I want to make sure everything lines up. I have to say after using the welder with gas for the first time it's pretty awesome. I tried it gasless and it spattered all over the place. Sorry, no photos of tonights job as I left my phone at home! I have also booked on a continuation welding course which starts in September which should give me a deeper understanding of welding and techniques than the basic course I did in January.

  5. nice progress mate  (sorry I've not kept up with your resto for a while)

  6. Thanks Diddy, nice to put something back into the van instead of cutting it out!

  7. Got the d-pillar repair panels through today, will post pics when I get my pc up and running again. Now I can save for the inner valance!

  8. Did a bit of work on the dash top. It may look better once it is sprayed, what do you think?

Also peeked under the rocker covers and tried to get the exhaust off but failed.

Got a week off in October so hoping to get a lot of work done if the weather holds.

  9. You need a bit more filler work on that dash top dude as paint shows up all the imperfections instead of hiding them

Think of it as good practice for when you come to do the bus body before paint

  10. Cheers Para, will sand it some more and maybe put another skim on. I also found a snap from the night I brought my van home. Sorry for the grainyness as I have had to edit it to even see the thing! Mobile phones are not good at low light levels.

  13. Tis true, not a post since way back. Just a lack of funds at the moment. Need the rear inner and outer valance to make things move! Will have the bits shortly and the pics will flow again! Would you go for the parts from Schoefield, Custom and Commercial (correct fit) or VH?

More questions! Would you change consumable things during the rebuild? I don't want to assume a part is ok only to have it fail shortly after. I'm think bearings, heater cables, clutch/throttle cable and things like fuel pump, dizzy and points and HTs. Also, it it worthwhile fitting an external oil filter?

Also, it is possible to install the ignition barrel in backwards? Mine seems to turn anti-clockwise to start rather than clockwise.

  14. Inner and outer rear valance ordered today. Another big tick off the list for a part that was holding everything up. Also made a small engine trolly, nothing special but the first thing I've made from scratch.

Not very exciting but some more pics for you after a 3 month absence.

  15. Inner and outer valance arrived today so another tick off the epic resto parts list. Took nearly two weeks as C&C didn't actually have stock but wanted the sales.

  16. You've got your work cut out there but your cracking on with it well. Cutting all the old bits off seams to go on for ever, as will repairing all the little bits that you will never see again as there hidden behind panels but there all worth it in the end. Surprising just how quick it will all come together when the big panels start going back on.keep it up!

  17. Definitely got my work cut out, the wife wants it at least driveable this year! Would be cool to have it at that point for my 30th in October so fingers crossed for some good weather. Like you say, it will come together quickly. It's just the sides need the corners, which need the valance which needs the chassis rail done!

  18. I know that feeling.my fiancé wants mine for the wedding car in 2015 but I stupidly said I'll have the welding complete by end of summer :s
