  1. Front 1/4s aren't that bad now. Maybe needing a bit more sanding?

Welded a couple of brackets on to hold the bottom of the wiring cover in place.

  2. have ye a dead line

  3. Before the apocolypse.

To be honest i wanted it done by Tatton park (in 2006:eek:) but that never happened. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now, though some days i wonder if its just an oncoming train. :(

  4. Keep at it zeb dude you have made some great progress this year

  5. Being able to work inside out of the rain has made a massive difference. It also gives me somewhere to get away from Fran for a while so i don't say something i'll regret.;)

I gave the drivers and passengers front 1/4s another sand and a coat of bonda primer this afternoon.

Got down to the last 1/4 of the tin and its all lumpy. Seems like the lid wasn't sealed properly last time i used it and it started to skin over. :(

Welded up the two holes where i'd cut the rot out under the rear arch.
Managed to find a few holes while grinding that i missed when welding it up, but promptly ran out of wire within 5 seconds of firing up the welder again.

Doesn't look too bad inside though.:)

I will give it a skim of filler and some seam sealer. Its hidden under the arch carpet anyway but i'll know its there.

  6. Added a wee bit of filler to the wheel arch.

and gave it a coat of bonda primer.

Got fed up with sanding the rear 1/4, but as it seems OK i degreased it.

and gave it some bonda red oxide.

I also made a start on sanding under the bonnet.

Lots of damn fiddly pressings in there.

  7. i would cut that out and redo it , don t cut corners now when you ve turned a corner , ye need to adjust wire speed or setting or both ,

  8. Got a few more bits done yesterday. Just welding up some superfluous screw holes under the bonnet and making and welding on two tabs to the rear valance so it'll pull it into place better.

Got a mate coming to sort out the damp problem in our kitchen tomorrow so probably won't get much chance to do anything over the next week or so as he reckons on a couple of days work then a couple of weeks before the new plaster can be painted and the kitchen refitted.

Staying at the inlaws as we're looking after the inlaws dogs until mid september as they're off on their jollies to Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand.

  9. Got given this decklid to replace the rotten one on my bug.
Even has the rain catcher underneath though i had to weld up a couple of rust holes in that.

My workspace while the inlaws are away and we're at their house.

Got all the removable panels in there at the moment for a bit of prep. They'll love the filler dust everywhere won't they? :p

  10. Welded a couple of clips under the bonnet to hold the wiring in place.

Gave the cant rail above the windscreen a sand and a coat of red oxide primer.

Did the same on the drivers side above the door too.

Filled and sanded the scuttle where the bonnet seal channel was attached (i'll glue the new seal on) and gave it some red oxide love too.

  11. use clip on mexican seal

  12. I'd buy a new welder with bottled gas ,the difference is life changing...:hattip:

  13. Got one. The bit along the top of the scuttle still needs to fit in the now missing seal channel though.
    Wanna buy me one? :p

Drilled a couple of spotwelds out of each side of the repro rear valance so i can repossition the engine bay seal strip 5mm higher so it matches the engine bay side trays.

Just needs welding back on now.

Received a big parcel of paint prep materials and other exciting stuff in the post today too.:D

Kitchen still looks shocking but a day spent throwing mortar into the wall and replacing some of the missing bricks has made it a little less airy.

Its getting hidden behind plaster board so not too bothered about the state of it. Over 15 years since i last did any pointing, and hopefully its at least another 15 until i need to ever do any more.

  14. Got the seal strip rewelded to the rear valance.
Gave the inside of the valance a coat of primer and it reacted with the scuffed up transit primer that i was too lazy to completely strip off.
At least it comes off easy with a little sanding. Hell it even comes off now when rubbed with a sheet of cardboard.

Inlaws are back in a week and a half. Will be so glad to give them their dogs back. Fed up with one of them crapping in the house every single night.
Kitchen is still in a state but atleast its mostly useable.

  15. Piccy from todays foray into the garage. Only had time to sand a bit more of the headliner glue off the cant rail inside the car.

  17. why not just clean with a thinners rag

  18. I tried. Celly thinners wouldn't touch the stuff. Its stuck like the proverbial to a blanket. :(

  19. Who in their right mind underseals the underside of the engine lid?o_O
    [IMG]
Its being a bugger of a job to remove. Its still gooey under the surface so won't scrape off and a wire brush on a grinder just clogs up.

Have a couple of small cracks i need to weld up in the nose of the bonnet.
Rest of it is OK and as it was a freebee i can't complain too much.:)

  20. Warm it up with a hair dryer and use a razor scraper to remove the bulk of it
Then white spirit on rags to remove what remains.
Don't use a proper heat gun on it as you will probably set it alight
