Morks Type 4 1800 AP engine project

    Here it is when we first got the motor:

    Best bet, Ill refit the cooler and inner piece of the fan housing, see how it should go!

    It'll straighten up easily!

    I am almost there gathering parts for the build, just need a piece of tinware, pushrod tubes, pushrods and I have everything ready!

    Ive been doing a few more bits and bobs on the build, mainly painting the tinware..I think I have a full set now :)

    I was going to pop the crank & mains in, see how it fits and spins, I changed my mind!! I popped the barrels and heads on and numbered them up

    Ive gone for the AA 96 x 66 set up, bring the spec up to 1915cc & Im very impressed by the quality of them, they look very well made!

    The idea behind fitting the barrels & heads and labelling them up is to lap the barrels into the case and also the heads..just gently to ensure that they have a good sealing surface!

New or machined surfaces shouldn't in My opinion need lapping . when lapping you would do both surfaces to something flat like a lapping plate or glass . how do you know your lapping square and not on the wonk ...machined and accurate measurement of the barrel length in to new or fresh machined heads IMO

    That's a thought!! Scrub that then, I'll not do that, how about bluing them up to check we get a good sealing surface!
