I’m not a vegetarian and probably never will be unless under doctors orders, but I see the benefits of it for a lot of folk. My sister in law for example had nothing but eczema problems all her life and gave up meat and dairy just as a lifestyle change and her dislike of mass slaughter of animals and her eczema cleared up almost immediately. Others I know have given up because of irritable bowl syndrome or Chrohn’s disease and feel better for it. They all initially ate mock meat dishes to help wean themselves off meat.
A veggie comes to eat at mine and I make a veggie meal. I ve never had a steak around at his, ruddy ingrate.
It was ( slightly) tongue in cheek...but still thing Vegans should be obliged to walk around self flaglating....just in case we didn't realise that they were vegans.
Meatless meatballs? Hmmm, yeah I see where that one is a bit pointless. I guess it's just the descriptiveness factor, as the majority of vegetarians will have eaten meat at some point in their lives and since made a conscious decision to give it up. Who cares. It's just names though surely? Pork sausage, beef sausage, vegetarian sausage etc? Although, by that token, it does rather imply a vegetarian sausage would be made from vegetarians....
I think this is a narrow mind-set. Why shouldn't veggie/vegan food be in appealing shapes to cater for everyone? Just because they prefer their food to be healthier or more compassionate in nature, shouldn't mean they can't have a fast-food hit or something easy. Plus, I think it's a way of introducing veggie/vegan food to the wider population, and that can't be a bad thing.
You’d get one at mine, though as I’ve never cooked anything other than fish steaks I’m not sure how well they’d turn out.
As I said in a later post, it was tongue in cheek, I eat both vegetarian food and meat.....as do most people...as with non alcoholic beer, it's the pretence I can't quite get my head around...but each to their own.
I think it's like those "war" games. Some people like the thrill of killing on a computer without actually harming anyone. These veggies get a high from eating pretend meat but knowing that no animals have been slaughtered for their pleasure.
Why, when someone tries to follow a more plant based diet, for whatever reason, usually ethical, moral or to do their bit for climate change even and helped by the availability of meat substitutes do fascists want to tell them what they can or can’t eat? If you want to eat meat then do so.... while you can!
Because constant moralising alienates perfectly reasonable people, who aren't "fascists", BTW. And I speak as a veggie.
