latebay Heater Cable Ends. . Something Missing

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by bezy, Nov 29, 2016.

  1. Hi Everyone, Restoring The Heating On our Van. Noticed on One Cable End It is Clipped In And Has A Type Of Cap On It And The Other Is Not Clipped In And Has No Cap On it.

Anyone Know If These Can Be Purchased Anywhere ? Or Anyone Have One For sale?

    Cheers For Any Help.

  2. Good luck.
There should be the nylon cap, a nylon inner cap & some rubber bellows.
The bellows are readily available, the inner cap BusOk has but the spacer/adjuster /end cap... Who knows

If you can find some let me know.

  6. Hi sorry it's my phone. The keyboard kept putting a capital at the beginning of every word. Gave up fighting it. Think I've sorted it now.

PS. Do you think the cable will work ok without it?

  8. Do yourself a favour and forget about all those little fittingsd.
When I was in the same boat, someone on here ,can't remember who, suggested using a metal wire coat hanger and some of those little white electrical connector blocks.
Use these bits to join the end of the heater cable to the h/x mechanism.
It works perfectly and costsd next to nothing

  9. Maybe if I could just get the bellows to keep the dirt out? Anyone got any part numbers. And I'll do a search
    PS thanks for the replies

  10. Every one sells the bellows, just search on heater cables & they'll be there somewhere
The nylon outer bit stops the cable outer moving so the levers properly open/close the heat exchangers.

  11. ^yep, this. Nylon bits as per pics above.

Better if you use old knicker elastic to close them again. Just a thought

  14. Cheers for all your help.

I shall take a look. If anyone finds they have a nylon bit let me know.

Meanwhile I'll rumage in the shed to see if I can find something I can improvise with.

    Cheers

Another vote for Megabug; send them a pic of what you want and the chances are they’ll have some.
