  2. No not a spanner inside pan tis more of thumb clonk very annoying:(...all looks tight and greased up just cant find noise o_O

  3. I had a similar annoying clunk noise I couldn't find for the life of me, turned out rob the shock bottom mount bolt was loose, check both ends

  4. (Rob) to be lol!

  5. lol rob the shock mount thats a new 1:)..do you think it could be done after they changed boot joint cover???..and didnt tighten bolt....

  6. I think it sounds like it could be something daft like that, sounds same symptoms as mine when I hit a bump it knocked & rattled like my beam was falling off but when I jacked it up everything seemed fine, get under wi a socket set n check everything is tight

  7. Some mot station do not know how to check ball joints [my local in cornwall did not have a clue] ,my cash is on a ball joint...

  8. Ok will check 2mor and let you know how i get on!!;)....Im sure MOT stations see campers and get pound signs in there eyes,And undo and take
Bolts away to P people off lol.....

  9. Get under the bus and have a look and get back to us. you seem to be changing your mind on what it sounds like based on the feedback. Is it a knock when you go over a bump (something loose) or one that occurs when your driving normally. If so what are you doing when you hear the noise - is it intermittent? My first thought on reading the initial post was as per Paras diagnosis tbh! Dop you know - it doenst matter how much we discuss stuff on here the problems always still there when you go back outside. There should be some way of talking these things better!

  10. Been under the bus checked all bolts there all tight..The clonk, clonk sound is when u drive on a rough road, over anypot hole, when knocking it sounds and feels like front of bus will snap away!! its a bit of pain in arse driving along and clonk clonk everytime you bounce around on road...noise is not there if bus parked up and rock it side to side!!....will let garage have it back and let them find the problem as got other bits to fix before her resto

  11. This may sound obvious but have you checked your wheel studs? I had a horrible knocking sound when driving mine the other day thought of everything, joints, shocks, etc. Wasnt till I got home got it off the ground and started to take the wheel off I noticed the wheel was lose. I as very lucky, but also very glad as was an easy fix.

  12. I gained a nice snap-on racket & socket after my mot, unfortunately I wasn't aware of it until they called me to ask if it had been left in the engine bay, I said I hope not but the MOT place was only 200 yards from the garage I'm keeping her in for the winter so hadn't driven far!

Let us know if the garage manage to find the clunk, knock, bang & what it was?

    Robo...

  13. Does sound like ball joints tbh! Id be jacking up and giving everything a good thrutching if your lucky its something loose!

  14. Checked Wheel bolts every bolt under her and still there ...Just phoned up garage and somebody will be having a look and will post back on here what the problem was...thanks again to all for helping out like i said im new to the vw t2...

  15. Shes back in garage 2mor so will have update of the knocking sound....:)...lets hope its not anything bad:(

  16. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

I wonder how they'll explain the knocking is a badly worn ball joint, just after they passed it for the MOT. Should be interesting. :D

  17. yes it will be fun...im sure there make something else up..."oh your glovebox is causing the knocking"lol

  18. if they took the bottom shock mount off to change the balljoint rubber they may have left a washer off,I have had the same thing with an aftermarket shock where the nut was tight but had bottomed out before touching the shock (shock mount insert too small).Makes a terrible noise over bumps

  19. Still suggests shock absorber as the origin to me. The nuts may appear tight but have they been torqued up properly. I had a loud clunk appear apparently out of nowhere, bumps and braking set it off. A quick run round with a Torque wrench showed one was lower than the other...re-did it... problem went.
